@BBCPolitics The private school in our town is a complete asset to the community, providing high employment, state of the art facilities for public use, contributes to community events and much more. Our little town would be nothing without it and the people that live here much worse off.

@BBCPolitics Another consequence of this vindictive policy is the elite still continue to pay for private education that the aspirational can no longer afford resulting in an even wider gap of private and state.
@BBCPolitics The taxpayer does not subsidise private schools, each private school place taken away puts that child into the state system which COSTS the taxpayer.
Labour maxed out on spending in their first two budgets.
They promised to limit spending increases to £9.5 billion a year.
But they increased it by £146 billion instead.
That’s why they’re dithering on the Defence Investment Plan.
BREAKING: The Speaker of the House of Commons was furious to hear that the Government’s long awaited Defence Review is planned to be snuck out on a Friday when the House isn’t sitting.
This can only herald bad news for our nation’s defence.
Sir Lindsay Hoyle has long been a powerful advocate for the Armed Forces from the first day he entered Parliament.
He said he would be "appalled" to see the plan announced without a statement to the Commons first and makes a direct appeal to No10: "That would be an utter disgrace and an utter kick in the face to members of this House.”
It would also be the highest breach of standing orders and an act of cowardice.
@drlukeevans I know people in our town that have had a letter with appointments made or asked to make and on the same day, another saying you did not turn up to your appointment or you did not make your appointment in time we have removed you from the list
@JoStevensLabour@GBLancs1@BBCr4today but supermarkets percentage is very low where dealing with % increases have significant impact, small businesses make up the majority of businesses in this country and the the cost impact is even greater to them personally whilst trying to keep their existing employees in a job
@JoStevensLabour@BBCr4today But the costs have increased significantly on employing all the existing staff via minimum wage and employers NI plus Business Rates and net zero energy costs , which means they can not afford to take on new staff, these are the facts.
@DanNeidle There were probably many people trying to beat the increase but the sales procedure now takes so long their sake was dragged out? We are on the front line of house construction and renovations and what we are seeing is dire.
