🚨🇮🇹EXPERTS WARN ITALY’S BIRTH RATE CRISIS IS “IRREVERSIBLE”
New figures revealed that a staggering 358 Italian villages recorded no births in 2023, signaling a demographic meltdown that’s shrinking the nation’s population and threatening its future.
Rural areas in the Alps and Apennines are turning into ghost towns as aging populations and vanishing services drive young people away.
Birth rates hit a record low of 379,000 in 2023, with Italy’s population projected to drop by 5 million by 2050.

This blows my mind - Korean society is collapsing via birth rates. Powerful piece by @annalouiesuss
"In 1960, Korean women had, on average, six children. In 2022, the average Korean woman could expect to have just 0.78 children in her lifetime. In Seoul, the average is 0.59."
People underrate how quickly this can become serious... mid-1990s South Korea had a birth rate of 1.7...close to the U.S.’s present rate. A fertility collapse takes around 30 years before it causes a population collapse, and once that happens, the collapse is inevitable.
