There are questions to be asked of Starmer's role in the Savile saga, given his habit of claiming credit for every success secured by the DPP on his watch !
In two to three years time, when Starmer and his government are no doubt deeply unpopular, I hope we in the media will ask ourselves: "Why were we so supine during the long 2024 election; why didn't we hold Labour properly to account while we could, and ask more probing questions, and explore their records, rather than give them such an easy ride?".
Evidence about 'Peter Mandelson's efforts to influence Cabinet reshuffle to secure more political influence for his allies' could lead Met to widen probe https://t.co/CAhzgHQoLo
This has mysteriously disappeared from the current Times page on its website - I wonder if there has been some pressure applied... the article is still live but only accessible via the link below - for now

Kemi Badenoch received the most positive ratings for her response to the Henry Nowak case (+12 after rounding).
Nigel Farage received the lowest (-6).
Yet perhaps most striking is how many voters remain undecided or don't know.
Downing Street and the Met are now blaming each other for the Mandelson files cover-up. When are the parliament and the people actually going to get the truth > Mail on Sunday > https://t.co/e4kGFwNNJr
Latest on Mandelson/McSweeney messages:
* Downing Street briefed journalists the messages relating to the 5 September reshuffle had been withheld at the request of the Metropolitan Police. But today the Met have told the Mail on Sunday this is untrue, and they did not ask for the messages to be held back
* Two of the unpublished messages from Mandelson to McSweeney reportedly relate to Darren Jones and Peter Kyle. Both of them were subsequently promoted in that reshuffle
* On 27 February Mandelson accompanied Keir Starmer to a meeting at the Washington offices of Palantir. No minutes were kept of the meeting, and it was not included in Starmer's official schedule. The Mail on Sunday has learnt that a week after Starmer returned from Washington Cabinet Ministers received an instruction from No.10 to meet with Palantir representatives.

They fought for freedom, duty, and our values.
We will never forget their sacrifice.

Where were @DavidLammy messages to Mandelson? He was Foreign Secretary at the time of the appointment. I am struggling to think why his messages weren’t published? 🤷🏼♂️

When he appeared on Question Time yesterday evening, Andy Burnham said the quiet bit out loud – he does intend to run for the Labour leadership, though he incorrectly stated that Wes Streeting has already triggered a contest. In fact, it might be on Burnham to do so if he wins the Makerfield by-election on 18 June.
Those who have headed to the mean streets of Makerfield recently have found Burnham awkwardly bestriding the fence and talking up his local roots, as well as his achievements as mayor of Manchester, without looking like he's measuring the curtains in Downing Street.

'If you want to know what sort of man Sir Keir Starmer is, consider these two clues'
'First, note how slow he was to make any public comment about the murder of Henry Nowak. And second, note how quick he was to condemn his political opponents for speaking up about it.'
