Working on character bios for the MEMPHIS: Monday Night Memories comic website inspired by the classic wrestling cards of the early 80s. I’m terribly proud of these and might print out a few to give away as promotional items.
You can see them in action when MEMPHIS launches in September!
Hey, baby! I recorded a lot of these songs 56 years ago, when I was only 26 (just look at those spaghetti-arm muscles in that picture!) The folks at Sun Records were digging through their archives, found these recordings, and now they’re releasing them this September. How awesome is that, baby?! https://t.co/oVO4yw5dsU

Been sitting on this for months, but @RealJimmyHart finally gave us the go-ahead to share it…
EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK AT A *NEW* GENTRYS ALBUM!!
Before Jimmy Hart became the legendary “Mouth of the South” wrestling manager, he was a singer in a band called The Gentrys. Back in 1965, the group had a Top 4 hit called “Keep on Dancing.” When one of the group’s founders, Larry Raspberry, split to start his own band, Jimmy kept The Gentrys name and signed with Sam Phillips and Sun Records in late 1969. (the very same label that launched Elvis Presley!)
Jimmy and a new lineup of The Gentrys went on to release several songs that made the Top 100 between 1970 and 1979, including a cover of Neil Young’s “Cinnamon Girl.” All of this happened before he ever stepped into a wrestling ring.
This September, Jimmy is going back to his musical roots. Sun has opened the archives to release a NEW Gentrys album “It’s Been So Long,” featuring rare and unreleased tracks from those years, plus some classics.
My wife and I are a huge fans of Jimmy’s music so we are HYPED!
#OnThisDay in 1993: New Japan: Fukuoka Dome, Fukuoka: Hulk Hogan renewed acquaintances with Black Cat at the Wrestling Dontaku launch, with Tiger Hattori, Sting, Brutus Beefcake and Jimmy Hart nearby. A wonderfully weird photo.

Decided to make the Memphis folder on my Drive open for everyone. YouTube is good but if you want to watch all of Memphis Wrestling in order from 1979-2000 in one place, this is where to do it: https://t.co/bEo7FgdHTG
