Sheek officially gone. Unless Egbuono is an absolute beast and Shaka mixes and matches with him and Royce as a small ball 5, I'm quite nervous about 8 and 18 being the first bigs off the bench. I'd like to see another vet big added, but I am not sure how feasible that is. #mubb
@jzambnio I get that these kids are making business decisions now, but you also gotta want to be a Marquette player. I donβt see Shaka as the negotiating type, especially if he wants Royce $ without earning it.
@DidChaseSlamIt@clairemezz I did consider that. There's a rumor a certain A-10 team is paying him more than we ever could. Let's see if he goes back to his hometown...
The portal giveth and taketh. What hurts the most is we dedicated a year to developing him. I was convinced he was the big of the future and probably the first one off the bench this year. Best of luck to him. #mubb
Marquette big man Sheek Pearson has entered the transfer portal, source told ESPN. Former top-50 recruit reclassified into the 2025 class and redshirted this past season with the Golden Eagles.
@SamOlbur Dude has wheels. Iβm cool with him taking up the last spot on the roster for situations like when he had to motor around the bases the other day.
@clairemezz Ya I agree. I did think he was gonna be more productive due to his top 50 pedigree. The other Shaka red shirts havent quite panned out. Iβm excited to see what Ian can show.
@jonjonjaquan I am VERY excited he's on the squad. I know that with his length, DO can have a defensive impact because we have seen it, which is why I have him as the starter. NM has length too. I'm just in wait and see mode to see how he fares against P6 competition before naming him starter.
@MubbOldtimer While different players, the likes of Thomas, Chartouny, and Koby Mcewen all had their struggles when moving up in competition. I am in wait and see mode. Great news for the program if he does earn that starting spot.
My #mubb way too early rotation prediction:
Starters--
NJJ
Stevens
Owens
Royce
Fru
6th man - NM
7th - Sheek
8/9 - Phillips and Egbuono
9th - Ian
10/11 - 8 and 18
RS- Johnston
@JohnWillkom I still think there could be an adjustment to the speed, size, and athleticism of Big East play. With limited opportunities, his numbers against high majors weren't great. Looking forward to an intense training camp competition bringing out the best in everyone.
