I will not join those who pile on their players when the chips are down. Manchester United are shit at the moment; I know and admit that. But this deterioration did not begin with Carrick or any of the players; it was caused and enabled by the board.

INEOS and the Glazer family have been far more interested in selling the club as a commercial product than in running it as a footballing institution whose primary concern should be playing good, enjoyable football. What they seem to forget is that the football played on the pitch is itself the club’s greatest selling point, and that this should take precedence over every other form of advertising or commercial interest.

Any true Manchester United fan must understand, especially at a time like this, where to direct their anger and who deserves to bear the brunt of it.
