What is Mild Autonomous Cortisol Secretion (aka - MACS)?
MACS is the most common benign hormone-secreting adrenal tumor and is associated with metabolic comorbidities including hypertension, diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, and increased cardiovascular risks. #NADF#ADAM26
NEW guidelines for who should be screened for primary aldosteronism (PA)! PA may cause high blood pressure in 5-20% of patients. Screen ALL patients with high blood pressure for PA with a blood test (plasma aldosterone and plasma renin). @EndoSociety https://t.co/mUeUoQXzWy
Following adrenal surgery in patients with high cortisol levels, some patients need steroids right after surgery. The other adrenal gland is usually "suppressed" by the overfunctioning tumor and turns off for a few months or as long as a year. #AADAM2026@nadf_adrenal@TheAACE
Sooooo important! I will see this happen often where the radiologist will say it’s a benign nodule and therefore no one thinks twice about it. Benign doesn’t mean insignificant and it’s crucial to get the functional work up completed!
What is an adrenal "incidentaloma"?
A mass or nodule was discovered on imaging done for another reason. But incidental doesn’t always mean insignificant. If you have an adrenal mass, ask:
✔️ Is it functioning?
✔️ Does it have concerning features?

Happy Adrenal Disease Awareness Month! All month, @TheAAES will be posting daily content about the little triangle-shaped, hormone-producing glands that sit above our kidneys. #AADAM2026#AdrenalDay2026@NADF
#GravesDisease is the only form of hyperthyroidism that can affect the eyes. If you’re having symptoms—bulging eyes, gritty or dry eyes, redness, pain, pressure, or double vision—get evaluated by an eye doctor and an endocrinologist. #GDAM2025@AmThyroidAssn@GDATF@TheAACE
International Parathyroid Awareness Day! This day commemorates Sir Richard Owen's birth in 1804. He is renowned for his discovery of the parathyroid glands in the Indian Rhinoceros back in 1852. #CheckYourCalcium#PAM2025@TheAACE@ParaTroupers1@TheEndoSociety
High PTH with low vitamin D?
Sometimes, high parathyroid hormone (PTH) isn’t caused by a parathyroid tumor—it’s your body compensating for low Vitamin D. This is called secondary hyperparathyroidism.
Your doctor may recommend Vitamin D supplements and recheck
#PAM2025
Some patients with primary hyperparathyroidism have all 4 parathyroid glands enlarged—this is called hyperplasia.
In these cases, surgeons often perform a subtotal parathyroidectomy, removing 3.5 glands and leaving just enough tissue to keep calcium levels normal.
#PAM2025
4D Parathyroid CT is one of the most sensitive scans for spotting overactive parathyroid glands—especially when multiple glands are involved or in unusual locations other tests might miss.
But remember, primary hyperparathyroidism is diagnosed by blood tests—not scans.
#PAM2025
🤔 Can I have primary hyperparathyroidism even if my calcium is “normal”?
Yes—you can. 📉📈
Sometimes calcium levels fluctuate or stay in the high-normal range, but elevated PTH tells the real story.
🧪 Always look at labs together to get the full picture.

The U.S. healthcare system isn’t broken.
It’s an engineered scam, legalized corruption wrapped in non profit labels, lab coats, billing codes, and suits.
Here’s the one stat that proves it—and why you’re broke, sick, and still on hold with your insurer.

Medicare’s physician payment formula (the Conversion Factor)?
Down 9.9%.
That’s not “fiscal responsibility.”
That’s institutional gaslighting.

But the doctors treating Medicare patients?
They’re being asked to do more with less, year after year, because “𝐡𝐞𝐲, 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞”, while the cost of running a practice skyrockets.
If the American people want Congress to preserve access to care for aging Americans, it’s time to speak up and tie Medicare’s payment formula to inflation, just like their own salaries.

Pheochromocytoma is a lump (tumor) in the middle part of the adrenal gland. It produces the hormones involved in the fight-or-flight response and may cause high blood pressure, headache, sweating, and symptoms of a panic attack. #AADAM2025@NADF_adrenal @PheoParaAlliance
If your high blood pressure is caused by "primary aldosteronism" and is a problem in both of your adrenal glands, treatment is medication called a "mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist" (spironolactone or eplerenone). #AADAM2025#AdrenalDay2025@NADF_adrenal@TheEndoSociety
