When you see a tortoise on a rooftop, you know it didn’t get there on its own. Somebody put it there.
There are plenty of tortoises on rooftops right now.

Indians have set yet another world record. 1 crore applications made for Jio platforms IPo.

Way to go!
Last week, at least two clients told me they’d been planning to invest for a while but waited for Navratri to book a consultation.
I’m not sure if they waited to consult me, to actually invest, or both. Do you believe someone can be better as and advisor during navratri?

@gagan_thward that sure was a one off - that cant happen again uless there is another harshad mehta and the safeguards are much stronger.
Also - what preceded that - I hope that kind of Bull run happens first so I can retire.
This market reminds me of the December 2010 to about 2014, markets delivered absolutely flat returns until the next Parliamentary elections. That flat road lasted about 36-40 months.
.....Nifty has been flat for 30 months.
Global coverage of Jio's anchor round: Reuters reported anchor bids above $25 billion, more than 30 times the quota; CNBC put bids at about $26.3 billion for the ₹8,110 crore portion.

Two decades ago, business houses fought hard to get a banking licence. Kotak Mahindra, Yes Bank and others emerged as new challengers. Banking was an exciting growth story.
Today, consolidation is shrinking the field. Fintechs, digital payments and NBFCs are chipping away at traditional banks’ dominance.
. . . . .AND THIS IS PERMANENT.
Every oil spike puts pressure on our markets. Bull markets often begin when crude cools off. We cannot keep importing our prosperity at the mercy of oil prices. Electrify everything. Even if we have to burn more coal to get there.
Energy independence is not optional. 🇮🇳
One number I found interesting: average spending on natural diamond jewellery in the US reached $4,063 per piece in 2025, up from $3,242 in 2023, according to a recent study.
That's a 25% rise in average spending per piece, not the growth rate of the overall market. Still, it's encouraging to see consumers continuing to spend on natural diamond jewellery.
There's also reported interest from Richemont in joining the consortium bidding for De Beers.
The industry has had a tough few years, so I wouldn't call this a turnaround just yet. But between the spending numbers and the interest from established luxury players, there's plenty here worth keeping an eye on.

In the last 6 months, spot gold has fallen 14%, but Indian Gold ETFs are down just 4%.
Why the 10% gap?
• Import duty: up from 6% to 15% = ~8% impact
• Rupee depreciation: ~2%
Now do you realise how much more we're paying for gold in India compared to overseas markets?
