I'm putting this out there so long, and over time I am going to link to some of my past posts as to why I would like friends to support THIS South African disability activist particularly—besides the obvious "humans need food and a safe place to sleep".
I have had experience(s) of home insecurity throughout this whole year. I know this feeling very well. Please bethuna, ndicela ninga'dinwe 🙏🏽 no amount is too small 🕯️🕯️please help where you can! Let's keep her housed during this fight for disability rights in the workplace!
We're not saying #BoycottJHBPride because they have a VIP sestion. Please don't be dense.
We are saying boycott because that organisation has shown no solidarity, protest, nor any semblance of care towards the issues affecting our community.
With Pride gatherings happening this weekend, please be aware that COVID, the massing disabling event, is still very much around. Wear masks, test a before in days leading up and after gatherings. If you get sick, please ISOLATE! 😷
if everyone helps a little it helps a lot. please help a black disabled woman stay housed. if you’re unable to share funds please share the post. if you know of people who can help, please reach out to them
@bevditsie Will dig out all the files from that time just in case. Yeah, saw the nonsense, she’s really trying to bait a public brawl. Luckily I’m a digital hoarder. Best she concentrate on hosting her little parade and cease with harassing you.
@bevditsie Wonder if she knows some of us kept recordings of those meetings post-2012 dissolution of old Joburg Pride board and have her white buddies spewing hatred and racism towards activists involved in advocating for a more inclusive politically orientated Pride (back to its roots)
UPDATE
The protest against the Dial-a-Ride cutbacks will be on Monday 25 August 2025, with the Artscape Theatre in Cape Town 🇿🇦 as the gathering place; gathering starts at roughly 10:30.
I'll confirm a more precise time and an exact spot later this week.

@NoozBebe_@ekverstania Some folks I know in Canada wear those, but don’t have issues with breathing and I’m not sure if they’re any *easier* to breathe with as someone dealing with hypoxemia. It’s tough trying to protect oneself here in SA, especially w anti-covid sentiment
@ekverstania@NoozBebe_ What I did save up/ invest in (thx to disability community recs) is a @RespirayGlobal wearable air purifier. For me, helps when wearing respirators, creating more air flow as well as purifying, but also if I have to go without a 😷 (limited situations) then i have some protection
@ekverstania@NoozBebe_ unfortunately like many safer & better fitting reusable (&disposable) respirators, @flo_mask is unavailable here due to non-int shipping &/or are expensive. I hardly leave 🏠(no Covid💉 & zero masking in🇿🇦) but when I do, have to do it in short stints. I wear KN94s from @TAKEALOT
@ekverstania@NoozBebe_ 👋 max 20% lung capacity due to severe scoliosis here - so your issue w/ hypoxemia & respirators I empathise w/, hard. Us 🫁 spoonies are caught between a rock & a hard place here in SA when it comes to respirator choice. Many say @flo_mask is 1 of best/easiest to breathe in
Bringing Ernie Els, who’s SA org collabs with ableist and harmful US autism orgs, while RFK Jnr is literally stripping away the rights of Autistic and disabled Americans, fully supported by Trump? The layers of how much of a failure this is are many.
