The situation involving the severed gas line near the 1200 block of Essex Street is now under control, and the shelter-in-place order has been lifted.

The San Diego Police Department is advising residents to shelter in place due to a severed gas line in the 1200 block of Essex Street from Vermont Street to Richmond Street.
Please avoid the area and follow all directions from first responders.
Residents nearby should remain indoors, close all windows and doors, and avoid anything that could create a spark or open flame until the area is declared safe.

We are investigating a death on the 4400 block of Nimitz Blvd.
Nimitz Blvd. will be shut down, in both directions, between West Point Loma Blvd. and Tennyson St. including the Nimitz Blvd. on-ramp from Famosa Blvd.
The closures are expected to last several hours. Please take alternate routes to avoid the area.
