A decisive step has been taken to empower our national security and local manufacturing. To boost indigenous technology, the Central Government has imposed a phased import ban on 405 defence items, opening up business opportunities worth approximately ₹3,070 crore for the domestic defence industry. With timelines set for local manufacturing from December 2026 to December 2029, this adds to the 509 major defence equipment items banned from import since 2020. Under Modi 3.0, India is steering forward at a rapid pace, aiming to scale total defence production to ₹3 lakh crore and defence exports to ₹50,000 crore by 2029–30.
