We're looking to fund research into improving access to, experience of, and outcomes from physical health services in prisons.
If you're interested in this research funding opportunity, the recent CMO report, 'The health of people in prison, on probation and in the secure NHS estate in England', whilst independent from this funding opportunity, may provide useful context.

An innovative AI-enabled stethoscope would enable doctors to pick up heart conditions in 15 seconds 🩺
The study, funded by NIHR, @TheBHF and @ImperialCharity and led by researchers at @imperialcollege and @ImperialNHS trialled the stethoscope with patients who showed symptoms of heart failure. It found that patients were:
🫀twice as likely to be diagnosed with heart failure
🫀about 3.5 times more likely to be diagnosed with atrial fibrillation - an abnormal heart rhythm which can increase the risk of having a stroke
🫀almost twice as likely to receive a diagnosis of heart valve disease - where 1 or more heart valves do not work properly
The stethoscope could be a quick, simple tool to help GPs to spot problems earlier.
