William Jacob Parsons has been charged with the misdemeanor of “Going Armed to the Terror of the Public.” He was armed with a handgun and rifle when authorities found him based on his vehicle’s color and license plate.

He was arrested inside his vehicle outside of a grocery store that is being used as a hurricane relief depot. He was released on a $10,000 secured bond.

Republicans have been spreading misinformation about the hurricane with wild abandon, with some prominent pro-Trump accounts making up insane claims that the FEMA response is part of a “federal land grab.” It’s as yet unclear why Parsons made his threats.
