The impossibly great George Booth was born 100 years ago today. Around his 91st birthday, I somehow got to join him at the annual street party in his small close-knit Brooklyn neighborhood. Our part was to do quick drawings for the kids. During a lull, George drew a slouching skeptical dog for me, and a dancing one for my son Devin. That captivating dog soon insisted on becoming the star of this board book. I've never met a kinder more magical human than George Booth, so naming the dog was simple.
