My dear friends, please, I hope to demand your absolute attention to this matter:
In 2018, my junior from St. John’s Medical College, Bengaluru, Dr. Randall Sequeira (middle in the pic), trekked up a steep, bauxite-rich plateau in Odisha to hold a monsoon health camp in the indigenous Kutiya Kondh village of Kutrumali.
In a piece he wrote then titled "Kutrumali’s Demons," Randall described sleeping under a dripping school roof in freezing fog, borrowing utensils from a local health worker to cook khichdi, and waking up at 6 AM to a line of tribal mothers. He wrote with heartbreak about treating malnourished toddlers with protruding bellies and visible ribs, listening to stories of stillbirths and chronic fevers, while noticing the shiny new solar lights installed by a mining conglomerate eyeing the aluminium ore beneath the villagers' feet.
Comparing his small medical team to hobbits sheltering in the night, Randall worried about the outside forces coming for that fragile village.
Randall stayed with the tribal/ adivasi community to serve them. After St. John’s and an MD in Internal Medicine from SMS Jaipur, he gave up every comfort of urban medicine to live in Kalahandi, recognizing that clinical prescriptions are meaningless when indigenous communities are stripped of their forests, water, and dignity.
On the night of October 16, Odisha police picked up Dr. Randall Sequeira and Dalit activist Laxman Naik at 11 PM from his home in Bhawanipatna. A gentle physician who has spent years trekking up hills to save tribal children is now locked in Rayagada sub-jail under frivolous but draconian charges (attempt to murder, dacoity), simply for standing with Adivasis peaceful protesting the mining of their sacred hills in Sijimali and Kutrumali.
https://t.co/PsxZZCngyV
Odisha Govt. said it will cut down forests to connect tribal villages. But it was a way to bypass green laws and fast track London based Vedanta’s, and Adani's mining plans. Local organisations estimate that around 45 villages depend on these hills and would be affected.
https://t.co/0pATUIYADm
The state has answered with repression rather than dialogue. In the last three years, at least 43 police cases have been filed and over a hundred Adivasis and Dalits, both women and men, have been incarcerated in Odisha jails. For example, from In March and april 2026, 8, 2026, to April 8, 2026, within one month, 24 people were sent to jail, 217 were made accused, and the number of “others” total 1,140. An activist who was not named in the original FIRs, but has since been implicated in about 12 cases, so that bail in one case is followed by arrest in another. This pattern of capture and releases have been used to crush rational dissent.
Dr. Randall understood that being a good doctor means understanding that prescriptions cannot compensate for the denial of land rights, that surgery cannot undo displacement and that no medical can substitute for the basic infrastructure a government has failed to provide.

To my fellow medical fraternity, and every citizen with a conscience: a kind physician who embodies the highest ethics of our profession is being criminalized to clear the way for bauxite mining. Please do not let his voice be buried in a sub-jail.
Amplify this, demand due process, and demand the immediate release. Please sign in this form to show solidarity: https://t.co/cgLIoEXExG
If anyone can help out in this situation please reach out to Medico Friend Circle - https://t.co/OT2D2E3DuW

A heartfelt message by a parent, K Sharad Haksar to Neha Bora.
“When I got married, I knew I wanted only one child. And in my heart, I hoped it would be a girl.
I was blessed with a daughter.
The first time I held her, I made her a silent promise. You will never have to share my time. You will never have to wait for my attention. Whatever I have, you will get all of it.
I had seen families with four or five children. Parents running from morning to night, and still some child was always left waiting. I also felt our country has too many people, and nature is paying for it. One child felt right. It felt responsible.
For years, I never questioned it.
Then this year, I saw Neha Bora.
She is 29, a PhD student at JNU, a theatre artist from Khatima, a small town in the hills of Uttarakhand. When the NEET paper leak happened, she sat down at Jantar Mantar for students she did not even know. Children who had studied for years. Parents who had spent their savings on coaching and still lost.
She did not eat for 23 days.
She was 66 kilos when she started. She lost more than 7. Near the end, doctors were taking her blood three or four times a day.
The night I read that, I could not sleep. I kept seeing my own daughter in her place. On a hot Delhi road. Thin. Tired. A doctor holding her wrist again. And I knew I would not be able to stand there and watch. I would have begged her to stop.
But Neha did not stop until the work was done. And when it was over, she said her body had forgotten how to eat. It had to learn again, like a baby. Even then, still weak, she went to Bihar to meet more than 600 students who had been arrested. She did not go home to rest. She went to the ones who had stood by her.
I am a dowser. Every day I work with energy. I have learned that anger is heavy. It burns out fast. Nobody can live on anger for 23 days without food. Only love can carry you that far.
Then I read that her father was in the Army, and the family kept moving from one posting to the next.
My wife's father was also in the Army. I never call him my father-in-law. To me, he is simply Papa. My wife studied in 13 schools. Thirteen first days. Thirteen times walking into a class where nobody knew her name. Thirteen goodbyes to friends she never saw again. Army children learn to smile, pack their bags and start again. Nobody asks them how much it hurts. I see that strength in my wife every day. I saw it in Neha too.
In Ranchi, a man threw ink on her face and called her anti-national. She said she had already faced pellets and lathis in Delhi. Ink would not scare her.
Ink washes off. In energy work, we say that what people throw at you only stays if you take it in. She seems to know this without ever holding a pendulum.
Her family did not agree with her. There were fights at home. But during the hunger strike, her mother came to Jantar Mantar.
I don't know what they said to each other. I don't need to. I am a parent. I know what a mother feels when she sees her child weak and thin on a road, and still standing. Every argument is forgotten in that moment. All that is left is: this is my child.
Neha said she has not spoken to her father yet.
I don't know him. But I am a father too, and I know how hard it is for men like us to say some things out loud. So if he cannot say it yet, let me say it for him, from Chennai.
Beta, we are proud of you. Now go and eat something properly.
Somewhere in all this, a thought came to me that I never expected. I wish I had one more daughter. One like Neha. This takes nothing away from my own daughter. She is my world. She always will be. But Neha made me ask myself a hard question. We spend our whole lives keeping our children safe and helping them get ahead. Do we ever teach them to look back at who is being left behind? And if one day they stand up for someone else, will we stand next to them as Neha's mother did? Or will we ask them to come home and stay quiet. Our job is to protect that light, even when it scares us.
Jus Brilliant 👌🏽
Thank you very much for writing this dear @_SandeepGoyal_
🚨BREAKING : Indian Express launches surgical strike on Dictator MODI🔥🔥
Modi's government is so scared of your posts, it's deleting them faster than you can type 😡
The Indian Express got the data. Between March and July 2026, nearly 1.95 lakh blocking orders went to Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.
That's around 1,275 every single day. One every 68 seconds.
A year earlier, the same Home Ministry portal sent about 6 orders a day. Six.
And when the story came out, the government's own "clarification" made it worse. It said the real number was nearly 2.98 lakh.
One order can cover hundreds of posts and accounts. Meta has plugged its system straight into the Home Ministry's portal, so flagged posts can disappear without any human even reviewing them.
Bro, my cousin posted a video of the broken road outside his house. Next morning it was gone. No reason, no notice. Now he doesn't post anything 😢
That's what they want. Today it's a meme, tomorrow it's your son's complaint about a paper leak.
Modi ji, 56 inch chest, but scared of a 6 inch phone screen? 🔥🔥
An open letter to all my countrymen.
Do you want India to remain a democracy? Then you must understand what Gyanesh Kumar, the CEC, and his bosses are doing in the so-called SIR.
They are violating the law.
- As per Section 21 of the law, a special revision is to be undertaken only in special cases, for reasons to be recorded in writing in each case; and that also only in any constituency or part of a constituency. An order for intensive revision for the whole country was illegal. An exception allowed for special cases cannot become the rule. The Supreme Court order upholding the general SIR was wrong.
Another question is - who took the decision for SIR in the whole country? Was it the full commission; or only Gyanesh Kumar.
- Section 21 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, provides that where the revision of an electoral roll is taken up, the electoral roll in force at the time of the issue of the notification of revision shall continue in effect till the completion of the revision. The revised electoral rolls become complete only after all the appeals filed against inclusion or deletion are disposed off. Where the appeals were still pending, the original Electoral roll which was valid on the date of notification was to be used. Contrary to this the new roll with deletions was used during the elections even though appeals against deletions were still pending. This was illegal.
- Section 22 of the RP Act provides that the Electoral Registration Officer, and not anyone else, can remove a voter's name from the roll and that also only on the grounds listed in Section 22(a), (b), and (c); and only after a specific enquiry, after giving the concerned person a reasonable opportunity of being heard, and only after appeals against his order are disposed off. Gyanesh Kumar removed the names of all the voters who had been listed by the ERO's after 2003, without any basis, without any enquiry, and without any show cause to the registered voters. This was blatantly illegal.
The persons whose names were removed summarily had to apply as fresh voters in Form 6 and give evidence that they were eligible to be registered. This is a clear violation of the Supreme Court judgement in Lal Babu Hussain and Others v. Electoral Registration Officer and Others, [(1995) 3 SCC 100], which held that the enquiry authority or the objector and not the voter - must bring forth material evidence to back any claim that an enrolled voter be disqualified. And in such cases the voter must be asked to show cause why his name should not be removed on the basis of the grounds adduced by the enquiry officer. All this did not happen.
The established jurisprudence is that the onus to prove that there are sufficient grounds for subjecting any person to a disability or punishment is on the
person or institution which is seeking to inflict the punishment. Here, Gyanesh Kumar has inverted the burden of proof. This is also against the law.
Up to now, the efforts of the Government and the Election Commission have always been to enroll all eligible voters. It was a mission to deepen democracy and empower all citizens. This is the first time in history of the country that the mission is to disenfranchise people.
Gyanesh Kumar added a new appendix to Form 6. He was not authorised to do so, as Form 6 is mandated by statutory rules. And he added this himself – against the views of the two election commissioners. The decisions of the commission are to be taken either unanimously – or by a majority. The majority was against the addition of the new appendix to the form. So the addition of the new appendix was against the decisions of the Commission itself. So why was it added? On whose orders? This was illegal. This appendix asks the applicant to state the serial number in the 2003 voter list on which their parents' names were listed. Where can an ordinary person – a young man of 18; access the 2003 roll in 2026? This stopped the registration of all young voters. BJP knows that young voters will not vote for it.
Objections to inclusion of voters names in form 7 were filed in bulk. Who filed them? How were the forms accepted and acted upon when the persons who signed it did not appear?
Names of 16 lac voters found valid by the ERO were not registered in Bengal because, it seems, the EC filed appeals against them. Why? On which grounds? Who authorised the Commission to file appeals? Two Election Commissioners say they did not do so. So the Commission did not authorise anyone to file appeals. Who did it? Gyanesh Kumar? These people were prevented from voting in the election.
So the Election Commission and some people from a political party were acting in cahoots to get bogus Form 7 objections filed in bulk and delete names?
How were elections allowed to be held when the appeals of lakhs of voters were pending? The ECI and the Supreme Court have to answer. The appeals which have been decided show that 90% of the voters who were left out were valid.
A ridiculous thing was brought up called "logical discrepancy". Gyanesh Kumar does not have any idea of how the poor live in India. Their children are not born in hospitals. They do not have birth certificates. They do not have calendars in their homes. When the BLO approached them to enroll them in the voter list they gave their estimated year of birth. Similarly, when their fathers' names were enrolled in the electoral roll, they gave their estimated year of birth. The dumb people in the Election Commission, under Gyanesh Kumar, said that any difference of less than 15 years between father and children would be a logical discrepancy justifying excluding their names. The “Logical Discrepancy” names were excluded without enquiry, contrary to sec 21 of the act.
The largest number of exclusions have been the poor and the underprivileged, those without a voice. They were and are mostly away from their homes, earning their daily bread. Lakhs are working in faraway places/states. They could not and cannot afford to go back to their homes for a month to get their names registered. They will go hungry if they do not earn. They cannot fill the complicated forms. They do not have birth certificates and the papers. Why should they sacrifice their daily wages for a vote?
The illegal immigrants are not affected. The first thing they do on entering India is to get their documentation made—Aadhaar card, ration card, etc. The earlier immigrants are their support systems. It is the poor Indian citizens who have been disenfranchised. The dumb people in the Election Commission and their bosses did not understand this. Or they wanted it this way.
Gyanesh Kumar has made a digital electoral roll and empowered it to refuse addition of names because of “Logical discrepancy”. In the name of "Logical discrepancy", the names of millions of voters have not been included. This is against the law. The only authority designated by law to add or delete names and publish the electoral rolls is the Electoral Registration Officer. Contrary to this, the electoral roll was centralised and the revision happened centrally. This was illegal.
Two Election Commissioners pointed out that the only people authorized to add or delete names – the ERO, the DEO and the CEO were not being allowed to access the voter list. In Goa, 97 electors were found by the ERO to be valid and fit for inclusion in the roll. They have not been able to add their names to the roll as yet.
The centralisation of the voter list amendment is dangerous. It can be used to cut voters from booths which vote against NDA. Is this what happened?
Deleting voters names before verification is a heinous offence, and Gyanesh Kumar is guilty thereof.
13 crores names have been deleted by SIR so far. This is 13% of the voters, and SIR is not over. The difference between NDA and INDIA in the 2024 elections was only 3%. So the deletion have had and will have a material impact on the elections.
The press note issued after the Commission meeting on 26th September confirms the illegalities mentioned above.
Did Gyanesh Kumar commit all these illegalities himself or was he directed to do so by his bosses?
The Opposition says that they will impeach Gyanesh Kumar. That is an exercise in futility. They just do not have the numbers. If they really want a remedy, they should file criminal cases against Gyanesh Kumar.
The next step to be taken is that all opposition parties should unite and say that they will not participate in any election till the CEC and Election Commissioners' resign and the selection of their successors is as per the previous selection system, with the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, and a sitting Supreme Court judge. Elections held in states while the appeals of lakhs of voters were pending must be set aside and fresh elections held. And the poll must be held by ballot not by EVMs because no electronic system has yet been invented which cannot be hacked. That is why none of the economically and digitally advanced countries use EVMs.
If we want to preserve our democracy the whole country will need to be made aware and united.
The reputation of the Supreme Court has been besmirched by the judgement on SIR. It is at par in infamy with the judgement upholding the emergency. Hon’ble Judges may please note.
The procrastination on the challenge to the law on selection of Election Commissioners is also sending a bad message about the Supreme Court – as it is an open and shut case that the Election Commissioners should not be selected by the party in power; but by a neutral selection committee to ensure their neutrality.
Let us unite to save our democracy.

@TellingRavindra Some spine from the media at last. Bravo!!!
The Election Commission of India is under fire like never before.
The SIR has struck 13 crore names off draft rolls, putting the EC at the centre of intense public debate over its role in deciding who gets to vote — and who doesn’t.
HOWEVER, what nobody knew: through that same period, some of the sharpest questions were being asked from inside.
Out today, after months of work. Our #ExpressInvestigation 🧵
(1/10)
When she told her family she wanted to go to Delhi to study journalism, they were up in arms.
No girl in her family had ever left home to study in another city. And journalism, as she put it later, was not seen as a decent job for good girls.
She went anyway.
Her name is Neha Dixit.
She went to school in Lucknow, studied English literature at Miranda House in Delhi, and then did a master's in journalism at Jamia Millia Islamia.
For close to 20 years since, she has worked as an independent investigative journalist. Her work has appeared in Al Jazeera, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Caravan and The Wire.
Her subjects are the ones most reporters avoid because they take months and make powerful enemies. Trafficking. Sexual violence. Extrajudicial killings. Workers who are never paid what the law says they must be.
In 2018 she reported on what had happened in Churu, in Rajasthan.
Poor people there, most of them Dalits, had been drawn into drug trials run for pharmaceutical companies. Trials that, according to her reporting, were illegal. They were being used to test medicines on their bodies.
4 months later, she went back and found them reporting severe damage to their health, and harassment on top of it because of their caste.
These are people with no lawyer, no insurance and no way of proving what was done to them. The only record of what happened is what somebody wrote down.
She wrote it down.
That kind of work has a cost, and she has paid it.
After a 2016 investigation into the trafficking of girls from Assam, a criminal defamation case was filed against her and the magazine that published it. The Committee to Protect Journalists described that case as a tool of intimidation.
She has faced repeated death threats. In January 2021 she publicly complained that she was being stalked and threatened.
In 2016 she won the Chameli Devi Jain Award, the highest award in India for women journalists. In 2019 the Committee to Protect Journalists gave her its International Press Freedom Award in New York.
Then she wrote a book.
It is called The Many Lives of Syeda X. It follows one woman, a migrant in Delhi, across 30 years, through more than 50 jobs, not one of which paid her the minimum wage.
In 2025 it won the Ramnath Goenka Sahitya Samman for best debut.
A girl whose family did not want her to leave Lucknow has spent her life writing about the people nobody else bothers to write about.
Most of them will never read what she wrote about them.
MY TAKE: VVIPs served SIR notices isn’t the story: Don’t worry, they’ll all find their way back onto the electoral rolls. But what about the lakhs of poor and marginalised who are being left out without the means to fight the system? Repeat: @ECISVEEP and the SC have much to answer for when a process shifts the burden of proof from the state to the citizen. A right as fundamental as the vote cannot become a privilege granted by the ‘system’.
Most middle class people say this is taxation without representation. Even if they have Aadhaar cards, PAN cards &
Passports they still don’t have a right to vote.
The fact that so many of us have received notices from the EC proves that the govt & its stooges believe that when it comes to robbing us blind with taxes the government regards us as Indians
But when it comes to choosing politicians at elections we are foreigners until we prove otherwise.
And then passports, PAN cards & Aadhar cards are suddenly not enough to prove we are Indian.
@virsanghvi @airindia Have travelled in this. The seats are not good at all and the utilities are so badly placed — you’re struggling all the time.
But am telling you these are the Rolls Royce as compared to the refurbished ones — utter horror. Lucky you !!!

After the outrage over Kriti Sanon’s outfit in a Raksha Bandhan ad, Godi anchor @sudhirchaudhary unnecessarily and deliberately provokes @KanganaTeam by asking, “Will Kriti wear the same dress on Eid too?”
To this, @KanganaTeam responds, “In that religion (Muslims), they still marry their sisters and cousins...”
Who told you, @KanganaTeam, that Muslims marry their own sisters? Stop targeting Muslims by repeating false and inflammatory RW narratives.
And as far as cousin marriages are concerned, they are not exclusive to Muslims. Cousin marriages are also traditionally practised among many Hindu communities, particularly in southern states such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, as well as Puducherry.
SALUTE to @Athersmike, someone I had the privilege of playing with many years ago, and @SkySports for doing this interview despite political pressure and standing up for Imran Khan. More sportspersons need to find their voice—not just when human and political rights are violated in another country, but, more importantly, when they are threatened in their own.
How many of our sporting stars, for instance, spoke out when our women wrestlers were protesting?
Sport gives you a platform. USE IT. SPEAK OUT. And STAY STRONG when you stand up to power. 🙏
@farman4x Isn’t this correct farmanX?
