We often refer to our distinguished faculty as the brain trust of the University—and they are. But you, our graduates, are its beating heart. You are the living promise of what comes next.
Class of 2025: as you go forward, I encourage you to stay connected to this place that has shaped you. Cheer on our teams at the Big House. Applaud our musical theater alumni on Broadway. Show up at alumni events in cities and communities around the world. Remain part of this extraordinary Michigan family. And never stop singing Mr. Brightside.
What an honor and privilege it was to recognize our four honorary doctorate recipients for tomorrow’s University of Michigan Spring Commencement. Jeffrey Cappo, France Córdova, Victor Dzau, and Derek Jeter. I think the students are really going to get a treat hearing Derek Jeter deliver the commencement address.
Thanks to Chair Markkanen and members of the State of Michigan’s House Higher Education Committee for listening to our progress and request for appropriations for the upcoming budget year.
