@sowore@officialABAT So, you are encouraging lawlessness, just because you think, Nigeria's young people need opportunities to learn, innovate, create, and flourish. Shame on you!
People proudly call themselves civil servants because they serve the government.
But when a Muslim says, “I am a servant of Allah,” suddenly it’s a problem.
Serving the Creator is the greatest honor a person can have.
PRESS STATEMENT BY THE LEAGUE OF IMAMS AND ALFAS IN YORUBALAND, EDO AND DELTA (ROOBITOH - رابطة)
RE: PROPOSED REDESIGN OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS (NYSC) UNIFORM
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
All praise is due to Allah. May His peace and blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), his family, companions, and all who follow his guidance.
The League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States (ROOBITOH) has noted the ongoing discussions regarding the proposed redesign of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) uniform.
ROOBITOH believes that any reform of a national institution should reflect the diversity of Nigeria and respect the constitutional rights of every citizen, including the right to practise one's religion peacefully.
For Muslim women, modest dressing (الحجاب) is not merely a cultural preference but a religious obligation established in the Noble Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). Therefore, any official uniform should make reasonable accommodation for Muslim female corps members to observe this obligation without discrimination.
Allah says:
«"And tell the believing women to lower their gaze, guard their chastity, and not display their adornment except that which ordinarily appears thereof..." (Qur'an 24:31)»
Allah also says:
«"O Prophet! Tell your wives, your daughters, and the believing women to draw their outer garments over themselves. That is more suitable so that they may be recognized and not be harmed." (Qur'an 33:59)»
Islam teaches that modest clothing protects dignity, preserves self-respect, and encourages interactions based on character, competence, and integrity rather than physical appearance. Modesty is a moral value that benefits individuals and society alike.
ROOBITOH therefore submits the following:
1. The redesigned NYSC uniform should accommodate the legitimate religious needs of Muslim female corps members, including a modest hijab that integrates with the official uniform.
2. Relevant stakeholders, including recognised Muslim women's organisations and religious representatives, should be consulted before the final design is approved.
3. National unity is strengthened, not weakened when diversity is respected and every citizen is able to serve the nation without compromising sincerely held religious beliefs.
4. Uniforms for both male and female corps members should promote decency, professionalism, safety, and respect for Nigeria's cultural and religious diversity.
ROOBITOH also notes that public institutions should avoid clothing designs that unnecessarily accentuate the body or compromise the values of modesty. A decent uniform helps foster professionalism, reduces undue emphasis on physical appearance, and creates an environment where corps members are respected for their service and contributions.
We therefore call on the Federal Government and the management of the NYSC to adopt an inclusive and consultative approach that respects the rights of all Nigerians while promoting national cohesion.
May Allah guide our leaders to decisions that promote justice, peace, mutual respect, and unity.
Signed:
League of Imams and Alfas Yorubaland Edo And Delta (ROOBITOH - رابطة)

Dear Mr Lere Olayinka @OlayinkaLere
I want to call your attention to the constant vituperation and insults you direct at our scholars on Facebook and many other social media platforms you operate.
As humans, we all have people we hold in high esteem, just like you do too. These scholars you are abusing are our teachers, and you do not have to agree with what they teach to show basic decency.
The moral source point is completely different. Since you are not a Muslim, your worldview runs in a parallel line to his. His words will naturally not make sense to you, but that does not give you the right to use slight words against him.
And let me clear this up for you loud and clear: music with musical instruments is haram in Islam. There is no music in Islam.
But we do not deny the fact that there are many Muslims who are into music. It does not make them disbelievers, but it means they are living in sin. Therefore, your post mocking this foundational position is a clear overstep.
Your boss is Wike, and the kind of deep respect you accord to your boss is the same respect you should show to our scholars.
And make no mistake, this is not just about music alone; it goes for any other religious matters where you jump online to say nonsense to our scholars. We will not take it lightly with you if this continues to repeat itself.
Before the world comes for us and tries to paint us as the aggressors, this is to put it on record and let everyone know that you started it first.
Thank you for your attention on this matter.
A.Y.O
The State Police will not be perfect; the Federal Police are insufficient and imperfect, but a federal republic needs State and Local police and policing.
That said, the passage of the State Police Act is a significant achievement, and full credit for establishing the State Police and the continued push for devolution of powers goes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
On this, you have my 100% support. Go further and see if you can advocate for and implement regional devolution.
Well done, Sir.
The unforced show of strength by Arsenal in the past few days should leave no one in doubt about how big and elite a club Arsenal is despite not having UCL trophy.
Anyone still thinking Manchester City or Chelsea is a bigger clib than Arsenal should have their head checked.
It goes beyond trophy, it is pedigree.
