tbh go ahead. don’t wear sunscreen, don’t get vaccinated, drink raw milk, practice a carnivore diet. i want to start being able to get concert tickets again
I fucking love America because it's a place that encourages you to fail. Blow up your life. Fall without a safety net. Start 7 businesses and go bankrupt. Join a cult. Get divorced 6 times. Make a ton of money in a ridiculous scheme and then blow it all on bad investments. Build a hydroponic shrimp tank business in your basement. Enroll your kids in a school where they practice telepathy. Have a secret family. Shoot your foot off with a gun. Buy drugs that make you go insane. Drive your RV off a cliff. Crash your own private plane off the coast during a storm. In America, you can fail so fast, and so hard, and so beautifully—every one of us has the opportunity to blow our wings off flying toward a crazy dream.
There are rules to break with panache because they enliven culture and also rules to follow because they lead to a better society, and people who don’t understand that distinction are lowkey my enemies
Do you ever get exhausted by food? Not the food itself, just the endless cycle of deciding what to eat, shopping for it, cooking it, and having to do it all over again every single freaking day.
Going to leave you with this tonight:
The best thing you can do for yourself is actively increase your surface area for luck to hit you. Go outside, travel more, go to new cates, museums, events, take a new route home, go for hikes, see cities, countrysides, take your notebook, speak to people, ask questions, start businesses - go on more side quests. You can literally just do things, and the more you do, the more serendipity and synchronicity will find you.
i regret to inform you that personal growth rarely comes from acquiring new knowledge and almost always from:
•getting humiliated
•showing up terrified and doing it anyway
•admitting you might be the problem
OCD health anxiety is a mix of "well, if I had that disease for this long I'd be really sick by now" and "well, if I had that disease it wouldn't show up so suddenly"
Someone on TikTok said ADHD brains love to argue.
And a commentator said “the number of times I 120% believed I was engaged with a fun and friendly debate with someone, as a positive, relationship building experience, only to find out they believed it was a catastrophic argument.”
And well, same 😔
you can fuck up pretty bad at most ages and still have your life work out, but the people i know who wound up in bad relationships or with health downturns while single in their 30s mostly missed the boat on kids.
for all the talk of permanent records and getting into the right college when you’re young, it turns out that career paths are winding and forgiving across the course of a lifetime, but there is actually a relatively short window to find a partner and start a family.
How do we know we're in late stage capitalism?
Helicopters carrying *SICK CHILDREN* cannot land at Seattle *CHILDRENS HOSPITAL* because the affluent owners of nearby properties don't like the noise.
*SICK CHILDREN* have to land a mile away and be transported by ambulance to the hospital, as to not inconvenience the RICH folks
The amount of hateful losers on this post blaming "Liberals" for the actions of one of the most conservative neighborhoods in the state is absolutely wild.
Apparently, people with ADHD get migraines and headaches at way higher rates than people without ADHD.
And nobody tells you this. You just spent years thinking you're unlucky, stressed, or dehydrated.
Turns out it's biological. The same dopamine dysfunction that gives you ADHD also makes you more prone to headaches.
Plus your ADHD meds can cause headaches. Plus irregular sleep causes headaches. Plus your disorganised eating habits cause headaches.
It's headaches all the way down.
They still don’t get it.
It’s not just the expense. Its the disbelief that your kid will have a good life. It’s the threats against women’s rights. It’s the lack of equality in relationships STILL. It’s the inability to find a quality partner. It’s the maternal mortality rates. It’s climate concerns. It’s war concerns. Its rule of law concerns.
And that 100% does trace back to political decisions being made in DC by both parties.
The hairdo? The sick colonial ball gown turned into a peplum top? The stupid BOWS ON THE JEANS??? Britain, just take us back atp. If this is what we're doing w freedom we don't deserve it.
I say this as someone who talks about the Beatles for a living…
We need to let go of our collective obsession with nostalgia.
It’s placing us in a world devoid of creativity, and completely bankrupting us culturally.
We can easily do the Olympics every year. Let’s just add in the spring and fall Olympics on the 1s and 3s. I want to win a bronze medal in corn maze. I want to take home the gold in allergies.
Wish we were in the days of Olympics-before-Internet when I could have answered my kids’ Qs however I wanted.
Yes, doubles curling partners are married.
Sure, that skier can win. 20 points for taking out the fence.
No, you can’t try luge. It’s illegal everywhere but Italy.
