Chair @Theirworld & Executive Chair @gbceducation. 'Better Angels with Sarah Brown' podcast. Working to end the global education crisis and to #ActforEarlyYears
Today marks ten years since Jo was killed.
We remember Jo as a mother, sister, daughter, wife, friend, campaigner and public servant. We remember her courage, her compassion, and her belief that we have more in common than that which divides us.

Grenfell 9 years on. My thoughts are with the families and the community who live with loss and hurt every day. My mum has been volunteering there on a project and I hear from her how much pain still exists and how the healing is taking a long long time. https://t.co/yySmcFW9x4
Play is vital for a child's early years development. @theirworld's partner project Thinkzone teaches parents how to create play-based learning games with their children to help their development, in under resourced areas in India. Marking International Day of Play on 11th June.
So saddened by the death of the wonderful, game changing, cultural innovator Kanya King - always admired her determination to champion black music and highlight positive role models, her generous support for other women (including me along the way), and recently, her insistence on bringing health issues to the fore for the black community. Her light still burns brightly.
LGBTQ+ students are dropping out of school across the world. This Pride Month I am reminded of Theirworld's research which found that nearly 1 in 4 LGBTQ+ students in the UK and 1 in 10 in the US are at risk of dropping out of school. LGBTQ+ students deserve a safe place to learn
Listening to the strong words about UK defence spending this week, I was struck when I watched this video by this reminder of all the ways we can defend Britain and step up to help others more vulnerable in the world. Interesting work from veterans at @line_of_defence
As veterans who have served in the British armed forces, we have seen first-hand the value of international aid. Aid is Britain's first line of defence and must be protected.
Please watch, like and share.

a hate crime that harms the Jewish community in North London for sure but actually harms us all. destroying ambulances; attacking a charity - this is really not okay. https://t.co/DLkGRUDwBC
We've crunched the numbers. We hold ourselves to account.
Against the odds, our irrepressible humanitarian community reached 7m people with life-saving help in January.
I hope this stat gives you as much hope and energy as it gives me.

Children killed, a school turned into a graveyard: even in wartime, we can’t accept this | Gordon Brown, UN Envoy for Global Education https://t.co/5J0FD5bSv7
This is a good idea. I know schools are stretched for resources but the cost of epipens is nothing compared to the value of vulnerable young lives. I am sure that this safety measure will protect everyone including teachers there on the front line.
Today marks exactly four years since Putin started his three-day push to take Kyiv. And that says a great deal about our resistance, about how Ukraine has fought all this time. Behind those words stand millions of our people, immense courage, incredibly hard work, endurance, and the long path Ukraine has been pursuing since February 24.
Looking back at the beginning of the invasion and reflecting on today, we have every right to say: we have defended our independence, we have not lost our statehood; Putin has not achieved his goals. He has not broken Ukrainians; he has not won this war. We have preserved Ukraine, and we will do everything to secure peace and justice. Glory to Ukraine!
Here is @UNReliefChief giving a speech in Paris - worth listening to the full 60 mins, but if you are in a rush, here are the takeaways to leave you with optimism, belief in the best of human nature, and what we can do to maintain solidarity and work together.
Aller de l'avant.
I spoke to students at Sciences Po on moral ambition in a driverless world.
Watch full speech if you want my proposals on how we fight back for solidarity and humanity. https://t.co/dC8hxAFFZN
Three assumptions we must challenge if we are to fight back for humanity. 👇
Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, the 81st anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. We remember the 6 million Jewish men, women and children murdered by the Nazis, and the strength and resilience of those who continue to stand against hate whereever we find it today.
a lovely read - about the kindness of acquaintances, the binding threads of family and how bringing plants and family stories to the light is pretty much always a good idea. thanks @emmafreud (@observer £ but you get one article free)
The most unexpected story. Longest piece I have ever written. Did not think this change of heart would happen to me… especially not in my 60’s. And deeply honoured to be cover story in The Observer New Review
