It looks like what many people believed about fertilization may have been oversimplified or not completely accurate.
For a long time, we thought fertilization was basically a race between about 300 million sperm cells, and that the first sperm to reach the egg was the winner. But research suggests the process is more complicated than that.
Researchers at Stockholm University and the University of Manchester found that the egg is not just a passive participant. The egg releases chemical signals through the fluid surrounding it, and these signals can attract some sperm more strongly than others.
The study found that these chemical signals differ from one woman to another. Scientists think this may help increase the chances of genetic compatibility and improve the genetic quality of a potential embryo.
This idea is known in biology as “cryptic female choice.” In simple terms, it means the egg may influence which sperm have a better chance of reaching it by sending out chemical cues that favor sperm that are more genetically compatible.
However, this does not mean the egg consciously “chooses” a sperm. Rather, the chemical interactions between the egg and sperm may make some sperm more likely to succeed than others.
#Bitcoin has had 472 recorded deaths.
If you’d attended every funeral with a $100 investment, you’d have spent $47,100.
Today, you’d own 1,043 $BTC worth more than $60 million.
The patient refuses to stay dead.
Ever wonder what a "severed" tail looks like when it's still moving on its own? 🦎😱
Check out this wild footage from Madagascar! People were convinced it was some sort of alien monster, but the truth is actually cooler.
It’s the tail of a Satanic Leaf-tailed Gecko. When these little guys feel threatened, they literally "detach" their tail to distract predators and make a run for it.

Even though squirrels usually eat grains, seeds, and fruits, researchers have found that squirrels in California also eat meat. For example, this squirrel was seen eating a lizard, and other squirrels in the same state were seen eating frogs.
CAUTION ⚠️
Watch the Bank of #Japan in mid-June.
Historically, BOJ tightening has aligned with local bottoms in #Bitcoin. It’s a macro catalyst that could matter far more than the next Fed headline.
