Eliquis is a cornerstone of treatment for pts with a fib. It has benefits over warfarin due to not requiring routine lab monitoring. It's a shame that patients may not have access to life-saving medications due to astronomical cost! Tighter regulations are needed.

My fav reading from #nurs638policy was Getting Wrecked: Women, Incarceration, and the American Opioid Crisis. The novel chronicles women battling addiction and the impacts of incarceration. It provided me with a new perspective on the opioid crisis and was a page turner. @Nurs621

Prior to my #nurs638policy class, I thought health policy was simply about laws, but realized it includes regulations, institutional/gov policies, laws, mandates, etc. My eyes were opened to the idea that most issues are complex and wicked, meaning they have many layers. @nurs621

#nurs638policy We are proposing policy that provides vaccination incentives to HCWs ($100 bonus for those who get vaccinated) rather than mandates. Enforcing mandates and penalizing could lead to protest/lawsuit/backlash and exacerbate staffing shortages. @vanurses @VDHgov
