🇵🇰 First, Imran Khan's sisters were arrested; now a sitting minister. Nobody in the PTI is safe from Pakistan's police.

Imran's party says police stormed the house of one of its provincial ministers last night in Pakistan's northwest, a region the party still governs.

A PTI spokesman condemned the raid and demanded the officers involved be held accountable. Other party leaders say men in plainclothes hit the homes of 2 ministers in coordinated raids.

It's the latest in a string of late-night raids on PTI figures this week, after police stormed the homes of Imran's sisters in Lahore and detained them for 30 days.

All of it landing just days before PTI's September 27 march on Islamabad, which the government has vowed to block.

Not even running a province keeps the police off your lawn in Pakistan right now.

@Kasim_Khan_1999 is clear. His father Imran Khan's life is in danger at the hands of Pakistan's military dictator who has had him imprisoned in near-total isolation inside a tiny windowless cell of Rawalpindi's maximum security Adiala Jail.

🚨🇵🇰 Chaos in Peshawar: a PTI (Khan's party) provincial minister has been seized in broad daylight by men in plain clothes.

Minister Shakoor was reportedly leaving the MPA Hostel for a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House when the men stopped him and took him away.

The reported abduction happened in broad daylight, in front of the Corps Commander House.

Very early this morning a submission was made to the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and copied to the @UN Special Rapporteurs on Freedom of Expression (@Irenekhan), Belief (@NazilaGhanea), and Assembly (@Ginitastar) in relation to the 'preventative detention' of @Aleema_KhanPK the sister of the @ImranKhanPTI who has been seized as the Pakistani Government seeks to prevent a protest march scheduled for 27 September 2026.

Whilst the submission was being drafted, Mrs Khan's sisters and son @KhanShershah were seized along with other family members. Whilst Shershah has now been released, Mrs Khan's sister remain detained unlawfully.

The @UN_SPExperts submission argues that the detention is unlawful because:
** she was detained under the vague provisions of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance which are in breach of the Johannesburg Principles on National Security,Freedom of Expression, and Access to Information;
**the law is being applied in an arbitrary manner against someone the Pakistani Government wants to silence rather than a person who pose a genuine danger; and
**that Mrs Khan's detention was ordered by the Government because of her exercise of her right to freedom of expression and assembly and to seek to prevent lawful protest on 27 September 2026 rather from any proper purpose

We call on the international community to speak up in relation to the persecution of Mrs Aleema Khan, Mr Imran Khan and the rest of his family and for the Pakistani authorities to cease their unlawful and shameful persecution.

As Imran Khan’s entire family (including kids) are abducted in Pakistan, a reminder that both @commonwealthsec and @EU_Commission have enabled the military regime at every turn. The @SGCommonwealth suppressed a damning report on the 2024 elections which only became public because of @DropSiteNews. Arresting Aleema Khan had no justification and rightly condemned but now the other 2 sisters of Imran Khan and several children of the family have been arrested. The way they were taken to an unknown location looked like high level terrorists have been abducted.
None of them had political role and were only campaigning for their brother’s freedom.

🇵🇰 Imran Khan's niece says 200+ police officers raided his sisters' homes in Lahore and broke down a bedroom door while his sister Dr. Uzma Khan was still in bed.

She was arrested in the raid and later released.

She says officers gave Dr. Uzma no chance to cover herself properly, and that the officers in charge were heard ordering their men to seize them and throw them in.

She also says staff at both homes were dragged out of their quarters, with Aleema Khan's staff thrown into police vans, and that police threatened to arrest a staff member's daughter-in-law and 1-year-old granddaughter.

Noreen Niazi and Dr. Uzma were detained for 30 days under the Maintenance of Public Order ordinance and taken to Kot Lakhpat jail, with officials calling them potential dangers to public peace even though the sisters hold no political or party roles.

Coincidentally, all of this comes days before PTI's September 27 march on Islamabad, which the government has vowed to block with tens of thousands of police deployed.

Upon instructions from friends and family, I have submitted an urgent complaint to the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (@UN_SPExperts) copied to the Special Rapporteurs on Freedom of Expression, Belief, and Association concerning the detention of @ImranKhanPTI 's sister Mrs Aleema Khan (@Aleema_KhanPK)

On 20 September 2026, Mrs Khan was seized from near her house in Lahore and the authorities, after first refusing to acknowledge that they had detained her, have now stated that she is being held under the draconian Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, which allows the authorities to order the detention of individuals without court approval.

It is clear that Mrs Aleema Khan has been targeted because of her support for her brother (@ImranKhanPTI) and because of her advocacy for democracy in Pakistan and we have submitted that her detention is unlawful and arbitrary, as it is without a proper legal basis and has taken place because of her exercise of her rights to freedom of expression, belief, and assembly, and in an attempt to dampen support for the legitimate public protest in support of Imran Khan planned for 27 September 2026.

After speaking up for Aleema following her seizure, her two sisters have now also been detained.

We ask you all to raise the case of Aleema Khan and her sisters wherever you are and for the international community to act for democracy in Pakistan.

UPDATE: Further accounts are emerging from the police raids on the neighbouring homes of Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan and Dr Uzma Khan.

Sakeena, their 20-year-old niece, who was arrested and later released, says more than 200 police entered the properties, broke down Dr Uzma’s bedroom door and dragged staff from their quarters.

Aleema Khan’s two sons were also detained and, according to the family, released around three hours later.
