It might be true. Though I highly doubt it. My basic belief says DMK will again come to power. And their next term will decide whether they survive or be done forever. I might be wrong. Lets see.
TVK has just won 1 election. No matter how unexpected and goosebump inducing it is, it pays to be humble. Already ppl are writing that there is no opposition for TVK. DMK is done. and all.
At the @IndianExpress Adda, I spoke about how politics can be unforgiving. We competed fiercely with the previous DMK government in Tamil Nadu for investments - won some, lost some.
But I never heard an investor complain of being asked for money by the government. Credit where it's due: the DMK government ran a clean and professional investment process and that deserves appreciation.
"Enga unga Leader ah kaanom" would've been politics
"Enga unga Appa va kaanom" made it personal
If you're going to take the debate from politics to family, don't expect the return serve to stay within political boundaries 🤷♂️
Glad @Udhaystalin gave it back!!!
A caste conflict arises in a corner of Villupuram district on the borders of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu, and within hours we had the Social Justice minister @VanniTamizhVCK on the ground addressing the grievance - IN PERSON. In my 8+ years of covering Villupuram and Kallakurichi districts under AIADMK and DMK regime, I haven't seen District Collectors or even RDOs visiting caste conflicted zone immediately or in a few days – at the least – as per the SC/ST PoA Act. I assume if Melpathi temple incident had happened now, it would've been different – from a social justice POV.
It's a positive change towards how caste atrocities will be addressed by the government henceforth. Hopeful.
DMK - 0
AIADMK - 0
TVK - 1
:)
Yes. This is true to an extent. But until we see a real alternative, I will hold my judgement. The star power based politics has its own traps. Lets see..
@Sarvan85 Both have failed the Dalits & MBCs in the same way. Hence the swing in each election. Both parties have staying power derived from the money they have looted while in power (see affidavits of their candidates on https://t.co/dPJWaey6gg), not because they've done something right.
@kalyanasc survive and replenish and come back to power. It is too early to write Obituaries. On the contrary TVK has more to prove. Everything depends on how they do and how they mount a proper real challenge to DMK.
Yes. But the party has still survived for more than 75 years. And got chosen by the ppl everytime there is a crisis in the state. they must have done something right. Truth works both ways. Even after terrible governance in centre, Congress is struggling to match BJP.
Perhaps it needs to be said: The last time a DMK govt performed well enough to merit re-election was in 1971, when the alliance with Indira Congress was critical. So, this trend of being voted out every time has continued over 50 years. It's much better to find out the reason, +
@kalyanasc I am just saying this. A party getting voted out is a feature of democracy. There is no shame in it. When a party loses, everybody ascribe their own agendas as reason for their loss. Contrary to the popular narrative, DMK is not decimated in the election. They *might* still
