@DavidGauke @Nigel_Farage Ukraine elected a pro-Russia President (Viktor Yanukovych) who was deposed by Kiev demonstrators (with EU backing) in 2014. At the time, BBC reported ex-SDP German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt warning EU they were risking war with Russia by displaying "megalomania" in Ukraine.

@prwhittle But they want jail! They crave martyrdom. Better to hit them with punishments they don't want: 200 hrs community service cleaning graffiti from public buildings; a big fine (with sequestration of assets or income to pay it); and a 5-year ban from any UK college or uni enrollment.

@montie I think it's because Lab activists are ideologically-driven, but many Con activists are pragmatists. When Lab fails to deliver, activists double-down ("we weren't sufficiently socialist"), but when Conservatism stops delivering, they defect to an alternative they hope might work
