The bigotry and sexism in Manusmriti is not implied, but directly written as laws of Manu. The Chapter V specifically defines "DUTIES OF WOMEN" reading which, will make you disgust the mindset with which these texts were written by a Brahmanical Patriarchal System.

5.147 No women can do anything independently. Even in her own house!

5.148 A female can never be independent

5.149 If a woman does something independently, she will destroy her family

5.150 Women duty is to be cheerful, clean utensils

5.151 Whomever a girl's father or brother gives her to; she shall obey him and not insult him

5.154 Even if a husband seeks pleasure elsewhere or leaves her as a destitute, the wife should always worship her husband and be a faithful wife

5.155 A wife must obey her husband to goto heaven

5.156 A faithful wife who lives in her husband's house must never do anything to displease him

5.157 A women should never mention the name of any other men after her husband died

5.161 A women who remarries after her husband's death and has a child thereafter, brings disgrace to the world and loses place in heaven

5.168 After a man gives fire to his dead wife, he is allowed to marry again
