On the sidelines of the Skoll World Forum #SkollWF, Aurora convened grassroots leaders, funders, and frontline experts for a conversation on locally led humanitarian response.
Aurora Co-Founder and Chair of the Board @NoubarAfeyan and CEO Armine Afeyan @ahafeyan opened the session. The discussion centered on a shared challenge: how to ensure resources reach local actors — and that trust, transparency, and accountability make that possible in practice.
Panelists included @JamilaAfghani, President of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (@WILPF) Afghanistan and 2022 Aurora Prize Laureate; @sallybecker121, Founder and CEO of @SaveaChildUK and 2025 Aurora Humanitarian; Anna Hakobyan, Chief Impact Officer and Executive Director Nutrition of Children’s Investment Fund Foundation @CIFFchild; Lucretia Puentes, Director of Network and Funds of @StartNetwork — moderated by @isabelchoat, Commissioning Editor for the @guardian's Global Development Desk.
What would it take to get humanitarian funding to the people who need it most — faster, more directly, and with greater trust?
That's the conversation Aurora is hosting in Oxford on April 23.

“I want to thank Aurora for giving people like me such a wonderful platform and enabling us to encourage others in this kind of work—and I don’t mean dashing across frontlines, but just helping, because everyone can make a difference, no matter how small. You just have to want to.”

There is time for war. And there is time for peace.
I'm aware we are not out of the danger zone yet, especially for Palestinians still under the control of Hamas. But for one day, let's be optimistic.
If we put the same war energy towards peace...we may have some incredible breakthroughs in the next 2 years.
I want Nas Daily to be front and center in these efforts. If anyone has any ideas, do send them my way. Let's start rebuilding.
I'll leave you with this quote: “It is more difficult to organize peace than to win a war; but the fruits of victory will be lost if the peace is not well organized.”
On November 6, 2025, Aurora’s global community gathered on Ellis Island — once a symbol of new beginnings — to celebrate those who keep that hope alive today.
The 2025 #AuroraPrize Ceremony honored Dr. Jamal Eltaeb, the new Laureate, alongside the Aurora Humanitarians and philanthropists whose work embodies Gratitude in Action.
