On BBC Four tonight at 11pm is the recording of the 1953 production of The Lady from the Sea, only the second telerecording of a complete TV drama from the BBC. It doesn't say on the listings, but the date suggests it was almost certainly one of the last BBC TV plays done in AP.

The trustees hope to apply again for an HLF grant to re-open the former television station to the public - but last time they did, they wanted to "restore" the facade to the Victorian appearance by demolishing BBC modifications. Thereby destroying the studios. Please, no.

The studios were behind the bricked-in arches on the first floor. The monkey-puzzle-like branches on the mast carried the sound and vision aerial wires.

#OTD The BBC's (& the world’s) first regular high-definition television service began on Monday 2nd November 1936 at 3pm.
The opening ceremony was conducted twice - 1st by Baird & 2nd by Marconi-EMI.
The Baird system was on film & section was repeated in the evening.

2 They are closing the road later so all it must be costing EE a packet; which hopefully will help the charity. There is a huge screen suspended from two cranes and the show will be projected onto this. Guess all-digital concerts follow the tradition of 1936!

1 Just wandered into the park. There is apparently a “digital concert” with no audience or rather a virtual audience - starts and seemingly be broadcast via EE tonight at 7 a man said, but couldn’t find any details online.

The answer may be for AP/Haringey to acquire the Dukes Avenue bridge for a token pound, as they did AP in 1980, and to maintain it

We hear that #Newsnight doing a piece tonight about or including the Victorian railway bridge that crosses the Duke's Avenue entrance. AP don't own it - TFL do .. don't want to maintain it ...might prefer to demolish it

We and Haringey/AP oppose this. The railway was planned and built by the same company directors who founded Ally Pally and went right up to a station originally under the Palace itself. It would be historical vandalism to demolish it
