@SeanJMcNamara1@wylie_alan@GGallerina Funny how this is often said by people who don't use libraries.
Very rare when I walk into 1 of our @NorfolkLibs that I'm the only person, staff aside.
Vibrant places here. No doubt users & staff elsewhere will agree.
"Local authorities say fewer people are using libraries". This is misleading, when investment is made then usage shoots up, as we have seen in Paisley. They are integral to literacy and many more things as @GGallerina describes so well here (2 mins in) https://t.co/jJrQlLbI4p
@LouisMMCoiffait Too many that’s why we need an immediate moratorium on cuts/closures and an open & honest discussion with all stakeholders inc users, staff, unions and campaigners as to the future of the sector.
Good news for public library colleagues (local govt funding increases, new recovery grant, reform inc. fairer funding for essential services like libraries, and multi-year settlements) but how many more libraries will close before they take effect? https://t.co/PY5g7NXdYx
We have written to the DCMS to implore them to intervene!
Croydon's already ailing library service will be irreparably damaged if these closures to four of our libraries go ahead.
#savelibraries
Deepest insult
This is what library staff at Bradmore Green have been told to hand out to residents so, instead of a local, accessible library with disabled parking they are being given a bit of paper. Our disabled, elderly and all residents are horrified.
A packed room to hear Minister Chris Bryant speaking at the launch Digital Inclusion APPG’s report “State of the Nation”. Libraries are a key part of the infrastructure to tackle digital inclusion exclusion !
HARINGEY - DEADLINE TOMORROW for Haringey council's consultation. On offer: a choice of 2 options that will reduce staff severely & have not a single library open after 6pm! How about neither one?

Public angry at council for planning to close a “vital resource for communities, both older and younger people” due to budget cuts. Library closures not well publicised. @RhonddaBryant @lisanandy https://t.co/JjVK2DChhr
Letter of complaint to the government against the London Borough of Croydon regarding the consultation and plans for libraries https://t.co/KNiZxTAnP4 by @LibraryCampaign
No decision taken yet. Still hasn't been to Scrutiny let alone to Cabinet for a decision yet plans already in place including "outreach WILL start in October and the new model IS DUE TO START ...
No wonder people think it is a done deal!
@DebBaxter1407@CroydonLibs Hi, the library service is developing the outreach programme. It will provide library services and events from other community venues - many suggested by residents through the consultation. We'll start outreach from Oct & the new model outreach schedule is due to start Apr 2025.
