We’ve just found out via @huducu that our friends in @Hud_HHS are set to face the same decimation we did last year in Arts and Humanities.
35 jobs are at risk. Courses are being devalued and destroyed. We — staff and students — deserve better. #HelpHudHHS
We really hope the students pluck up the courage and stand by staff or we will be saying goodbye to many more brilliant academics and another excellent department slashed. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS
NO CUTS TO HUDDERSFIELD HUMAN AND HEALTH SCIENCES!
We fully oppose the planned redundancies on behalf of all staff and students. We deserve better. #HelpHudHHS

We know @huducu and @ucu as a wider organisation will fight for Human and Health Sciences staff. But we need @HuddersfieldSU and @nusuk to fight too.
It’s NOT a necessity to cut these jobs. @HuddersfieldUni has £85m in cash and cash reserves. #HelpHudHHS
With the @ucu strikes starting this week, we’ve put together a guide for students to know what’s happening and why. Check it out and share! #UCURising#OneOfUsAllOfUs https://t.co/KRbxiwCEHy
@ScottMKirby@nehies97 @seis_matters This is what disappointed us with @HuddersfieldSU during our initial campaign - we hope they will learn from their (and this type of) mistake in time for the upcoming strike action!
Ridiculous is an understatement. After laying off such brilliant faculty and essentially destroying the linguistics school as well as other schools in A&H, the university has the audacity to advertise for staff in those departments. This only adds insult to injury.
How dare they? Only weeks after dismantling the linguistics team, after years of refusing to recognise the word 'linguistics'. Believe me, there is no 'team' to join here...just one poor remaining linguist who is trying to cope with all the work my colleagues had to leave 1/2
We would love to believe there’s a commitment to anti-racism from the SU. But this survey is designed in a way that suggests a lack of thought and effort: things which are essential to ‘commitment’. If they can’t do that, how can we expect quality anti-racist work? (10/🧵)
Maybe it’s just us, but it feels like showing commitment means putting effort into collecting quality data in a way that allows enough anonymity to allow marginalised students especially to be honest about their experiences. 🧵
We are committed to becoming anti-racist and listening to our students. We want to hear the views of all our students regardless of your race or ethnicity and whether you think there is anything we can do to eradicate racial discrimination and advance race equality.
Our campaign contains a mix of white and BAME students. The cuts, like most harmful choices in HE, affect the BAME students the most when you consider the awarding gap and the fact that white students tend to get more opportunities to succeed, particularly in our fields (9/🧵)
