North Ayrshire Council plans to cut all 5 school librarians' jobs effectively closing all school libraries. We are taking action to protect our libraries!
WE SAVED OUR SCHOOL LIBRARIES kinda ... Yesterday at a council meeting it was unanimously decided by councillors that the implementation of the redesigned service will be DELAYED till January to allow for proper consultation to occur 1/6
With a little of the funding from the SLIF project, Let me tell you a story, pupils involved with the sessions with @strangelymagic got to choose a copy of one of Victoria's books. Not everyone was keen on a photo but all were delighted with their book!

GOOD LUCK!! To everyone receiving their exam results tomorrow, particularly to the other students in the campaign who went above and beyond during exam season, studying for Their exams and helping save our libraries!
While we fight to save our school libraries here in North Ayrshire, Many other libraries across the country face similar problems. The message in the video below hits some of the same points we try to convey through the campaign. Best of luck to the tower hill campaign!
With two days to go till voting starts, we are very disappointed that only two candidates decided to email back, but it is great to see two candidates from parties (often at odds with each other) agree that school libraries and librarians are an important part of our education.
Because of the general election We have decided to reach out to all the local candidates standing in North Ayrshire, to hear their opinion and what they would do as an MP to support school libraries and literacy here in North Ayrshire. We will tweet their responses on this thread
We hope that as the consultation continues, the council realises how important libraries are to our education and decides to keep them. We know that only through communication can we reach a solution which benefits both pupils and the budget. @North_Ayrshire 3/3
Last Friday pupils met with the council as part of the consultation on the school library service. We believe this was a productive meeting which allowed us to highlight many things our librarians do, Though there was little talk about what will happen in the future 1/3
Which we find disappointing, we were also disappointed that when pupils were taken around St. Matt's library the council did not join, we believe that they should have joined us to see the wonderful work librarians do in person, 2/3

A big thank you to all pupils, parents and authors who helped us during this campaign particularly St Mathews book group members who started the campaign and fought for what they believed, I couldn't be more proud to be a member of that book group, thank you all so much. 6/6
