Pls voice your support to Save & Protect the Showbox by placing controls on the property.
While the Showbox is now designated an Historic Landmark, it is still not saved. But it can be. We still need your support! There is another step in the Landmarks process. We need controls placed on the property to ensure protection. (2/3)

Woke up and remembered yesterday and what a roller coaster this past year has been. So dang happy. While there’s still work to be done, let’s bask in this moment for a little while longer.

Board votes to APPROVE the designation of The Showbox as a historic landmark.
Designation includes entire property (ext & int) but board said that will likely shrink a bit to exclude back of house offices. #SaveTheShowbox
Per @HistoricSeattle
The Showbox has not technically been saved yet. The Landmarks Preservation Board will now enter into a controls and incentives negotiation with the property owner.
@HistoricSeattle would ultimately hope to purchase the venue.

There’s so many more people to thank and I know I forgot many, but know that we are eternally grateful for everything everyone has done. This is a wonderful victory that everyone deserves to take credit for and to celebrate.

The theme: it may not be Carnegie Hall and, yes, there have been alterations - but it's clearly grown to embody Seatttle's music scene.
