Oakland wants to gut the historic Arena at the Kaiser Convention Center and fill it with tech offices. We're here to save it. Facebook:

In 2006, when #Oakmtg voted to close the Arena, @i_am_umlaut told us the Arena's heavy metal history. #savethehenryJ

We wish @tammerlin had contacted us before writing that we endorse any proposal for the HJKCC. We don't. We only endorse saving the Arena.

.@BaySolidarity Nice. #SaveE12th. And Save the Arena! https://t.co/qgqwlEms7j https://t.co/aMjh58NJM7 @guelo

@davidcolburn Read. That link may explain a sudden bump in petition signatures in the middle of the night.

[SaveTheHenryJ @SaveTheArena]

@davidcolburn Twitter makes sense for organizing only after one acquires many followers. We simply haven't had time to do that.

[SaveTheHenryJ @SaveTheArena]

@davidcolburn Thanks

[SaveTheHenryJ @SaveTheArena]

.@MusicNegrito a share on your FB page would really go a long way to help. We have a petition too. https://t.co/qgqwlEms7j @jeremycliu

[SaveTheHenryJ @SaveTheArena]

@davidcolburn BTW, we've found Twitter ineffective for organizing. We check this account only during #oakmtg. Like us on Facebook!

@davidcolburn That was very thoughtful of her. Unexpected. When did you receive the email? Would you forward it to savethehjkcc at gmail ?

[SaveTheHenryJ @SaveTheArena]

.@davidcolburn Rebecca has been supportive. Others seem open minded. Only @annieforoakland and @Abel_Guillen are stubbornly pro-Orton.

Elvis played The #Oakland Auditorium when he was young and unstoppable. He didn't play SF until he was almost dead. https://t.co/OyNnn58TEA

[SaveTheHenryJ @SaveTheArena]

The guard at the door at #oakmtg also saw pro wrestling, Ike and Tina Turner, and the Circus at the Arena. #savethehenryJ

[SaveTheHenryJ @SaveTheArena]

The security guard at the front door of #oakmtg just told me he played pro roller derby at the Arena and saw James Brown there.

[SaveTheHenryJ @SaveTheArena]

Don't let #oakmtg turn our Arena into tech offices. Hip hop history was made there. https://t.co/qgqwlEms7j

[SaveTheHenryJ @SaveTheArena]

So many old Concert Posters from the Arena. Don't know where to start. #savethehenryj #oakmtg

[Papalote @WellDamnit]

@SaveTheArena Pretty sure Stokely/Kwame spoke there too.

[SaveTheHenryJ @SaveTheArena]

.@WellDamnit Yup. We have video of that and we'll share it next week. H Rap Brown too.

[Papalote @WellDamnit]

@SaveTheArena Yay for your efforts from a former participant in Louise Jorgensen's Christmas Pageants! (😉 yes old)
