It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear parishioner, Julia, from Holy Ghost Catholic Church.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
requiescat in pace
As we live through this Ash Wednesday, may the crosses of ashes that mark our foreheads be a reminder to us and to those we meet that we belong to your Son. May our worship and prayer and penitence this day be sustained throughout these 40 days of Lent.
As this is the first weekend that Bishop Martin’s altar rail ban goes into effect, we are hearing of a variety of responses from the priests and pastors of the Diocese of Charlotte.
Some are making no change at this time as they wait for Rome’s response to the dubia.
Others have already removed temporary rails from their parishes and have announced additional stations to receive communion.
At least one parish is already recruiting Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion in their bulletin, as they will apparently no longer use the rail.
We have even heard a pastor publicly advise his parishioners that he will deny them communion if they go to the rail to receive.
Earlier today I received this open letter, written by a priest and addressed to the Priests and Pastors of the Diocese of Charlotte.
While addressed to his brother priests, it also provides a reminder to all that no one in good standing should be denied Communion, even if they go to an altar rail.
For 20 years, Fr. Orr, followed by many faithful priests, gave Knoxville the gift of the Traditional Latin Mass. This Christmas marked the end of a chapter, but not the end of the story. We entrust what comes next to God’s providence.

Reminder:
St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Johnson City, TN, will be having their last TLM tomorrow at 2pm. Fr. Collins will have a special blessing for the children afterwards for the Feast of the Holy Innocents. Finger foods and snacks served after. 🙏🏻
@DonnaCo39573199 At this time, all we know is that this will be the final Latin Mass at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, unless the bishop chooses to reconsider.🙏🏻
This final Sunday of Advent calls us to watch and to trust.
As we celebrate the last Latin Mass Sunday at Holy Ghost, we do so with sorrow — but not without hope. What has been offered here belongs to God, and He brings fruit even from the winter of waiting.
Veni, Domine Jesu.
ADVENT REFLECTION FROM ST. AUGUSTINE (December 20, 2023)
“He who sustains the world lay in a manger, a wordless Child, yet the Word of God. Him whom the heavens do not contain the bosom of one woman bore. She ruled our King; she carried Him in whom we exist; she fed our Bread.
O manifest weakness and marvelous humility in which all divinity lay hid! By His power He ruled the mother to whom His infancy was subject, and He nourished with truth her whose breasts suckled Him.
May He who did not despise our lowly beginnings perfect His work in us, and may He who wished on account of us to become the Son of Man make us the sons of God.”
St. Augustine, “Sermon 184: On the Birthday of Our Lord Jesus Christ” (§3)
Art: Carlo Maratha, “The Holy Night” (1655)
Ember Days begin today. One of our members proposed a wonderful and timely intention—that we offer our fasting this week for the preservation of the Latin Mass in the Diocese of Knoxville. We invite everyone who is able to join in this sacrifice. https://t.co/ac84aGgdmj
“And not only this, but we also celebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God” Romans5:3-5
Incline Thine ear, we beseech Thee, O
Lord, to our petitions: and, by the grace
of Thy visitation, enlighten the darkness
of our minds. Who lives and reigns,
with God the Father, in the unity of the
Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.

Beautiful Rorate Caeli Mass on the feast of Saint Lucy.
“Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain the just: let the earth be opened and bud forth a Savior".- Isaiah 45:8

"Nothing should frighten or grieve you. Let not your heart be disturbed.
Do not fear that sickness, nor any other sickness or anguish. Am I not here, who is your Mother? Are you not under my protection?”
