Just some of the stoical peers who were in the @UKHouseofLords chamber until the early hours of this morning, arguing and voting for amendments to the terribly flawed Holocaust Memorial Bill.
SO pleased to see that @europanostra has recognised the important heritage value @SaveVTG. It is a vital historic green lung in the 💚 of London at risk of development and rising water💧levels @LDNGardensTrust @ThamesEstPart
Peers opposing the plan claim it will put people at risk of being poisoned by novichok, fentanyl or some other gas hidden in terrorists' rectums, being drowned, burnt alive, trampled to death, or blown to bits by rockets fired from traffic nearby or even boats on the river.

That it will take up a mere 7.5% of the park (but please don’t hold them to square footages, because that would ‘make the proposed scheme undeliverable’. In fact, don’t use measurements at all. Just look at the ‘little lines’ on the plan.)
But we’re the fantasists.
For years, a planned Holocaust memorial in London has been beset by delays, legal challenges, rocketing costs, and the emotionally complicated spectacle of very old survivors speaking both in favor and against it. https://t.co/4Rdoa7tCzH
Two questions:
- is this the same APPG that does not appear in the October 2024 Register of APPGs?
- will you be publishing minutes of the great meeting?
@BobBlackman@GiorgioAnnecch1 any answers?
Great meeting at the Holocaust Memorial APPG yesterday, discussing the proposed content of the UK Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre. Thank you to all those that attended.
The Holocaust Memorial Bill is currently in the Lords, where the Government is arguing that Holocaust survivors do not have the right be heard in relation to a Holocaust Memorial!
In today’s @thetimes William Shawcross runs through just a few of the proposal’s many failings.
