What posts like this always ignore is that you can't just blow up your own infrastructure that your own military depends on, nor can you guarantee your own guys won't defect to the side of the rebels, nor can you assure the ones who stay loyal that the rebels won't target their families, nor can you enforce a curfew without having soldiers on the ground who are vulnerable to small arms fire, nor can you reliably patrol 3.33 million square miles of undeveloped wilderness for militia movement, nor can you discount the fact that there are more armed civilians in the US than there are active personnel in all of the world's militaries combined by about three times.
