Knights win, 8-6 over Stillwater in Game 3 to take the series and advance to the @MinnBaseball state tournament for the 6th time in 7 seasons. Knights will be the 2-seed representing the Skyline League.
Another excellent start tonight from @Sawyeranders05, who has been dialed in the month of July. Tonight's line:
5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, Win
67 pitches, 52 strikes
Baxter Heino returned from vacation was excellent as well, striking out the side in his inning of work.
Game 2 starter @Sawyeranders05 turned in his third consecutive quality start.
CG, 7 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
Sawyer pounded the zone. 95 pitches, 65 strikes. Also chipped in a single with the bat.
Knights pitchers delivered another strong performance last night, allowing 2 ER or fewer for the 6th time in the last 8 games (and 8th in the last 12).
@Sawyeranders05 4 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K
@gavin_dahl21 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Baxter Heino 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
Knights got a strong start from @Sawyeranders05 in the championship game:
Anderson 5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, Win
N. Rolf 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K, SV
Pitching staff was locked in all weekend as 7 different pitchers combined to go:
20 IP, 11 H, 5 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 22 K
Game 2 was a much tighter affair, but again the Knights jumped out early with a 5-spot in the 2nd inning. @HinkelCole led off the inning with a HR. Doubles from @Sawyeranders05, @Dominicanshow21, and @Ryan_Jeffrey14, along with some aggressive baserunning fueled the inning.
