It’s the people that make places special.
There are so many different examples of it, but this is one for me.
I always liked to show up early, get a stretch or a workout in, etc. For 10 years in Houston, when I would show up in the morning, Roland & Kap would already be there, just finishing their workout.
They’re athletic trainers. Taping/treatment generally starts around 6am and they don’t leave until late in the evening every night. They show up in the morning while it’s still dark outside and they leave at night when it’s dark outside. Yet they would still be in the weightroom at like 4:30am every morning getting a workout in before they started their full day of work helping us players.
They don’t have to. They could decide not to. But they choose to try and better themselves before spending the rest of their day helping everyone else get better and that has always inspired me.
So this morning we ran it back.
Like old times.
New memories with old friends.
🙏🏼🤘🏼
Won’t post the video but looked to be a lower leg fracture for Ryan Papenhuyzen - foot seemed very loose and pointing where it shouldn’t. At least a fibula fracture best case but likely more, lengthy recovery ahead again. Absolutely horrific seeing what he’s been through
Devastating. No matter who you're rooting for, I don't imagine there’s anyone watching whose heart didn’t sink just then.
Thoughts are with Papenhuyzen, here's hoping that wasn't as bad as it looks
