I've been continuing to learn, a lot more information out today including some good sources. The gangs specifically picked four guys from El Salvador who were supporting the UN forces & ambushed their armored car, setting off a ferocious firefight with El Salvador helicopters.

The support logistics were already there for the UN forces, the armored cars are already there, and El Salvador already has combat helicopters there and in action. The Haiti government doesn't really exist at this point, but this is happening with their concurrence.

The US is obviously cooperating but staying in the background at this point. Bukele is pissed off, and is sending the best he has to be the "tip of the spear" in recovering his nationals, possibly with the help of US mercenaries.

@state_secession Taking a plane out of the country in the midst of an emergency while foreign troops are arriving is the classic fleeing the country, imo. What was more important?

Of course, they don't phrase it that way, and he likely wants to retain flexibility for a quick return.

OK, this is INTERESTING. Just retweeted by Bukele himself, and the 100 paratroopers / special forces was only one of six planes. Two more from El Salvador, three from Washington DC. So six planeloads, more on the way. US military wouldn't use charter, maybe @realErikDPrince ?

Three charter flights from Washington, DC to Haiti today — two already in the air. Another three flights from El Salvador — including one that is likely a US Air Force plane. Yesterday, @Jacquiecharles confirmed Salvadoran special forces had begun arriving, and more were on the way.

🇭🇹🇸🇻 À ceux qui pensent que Nayib Bukele peut intervenir militairement en Haïti à la suite de la «disparition » des quatre militaires salvadoriens, je tiens à rappeler ceci :

La volonté légitime du président salvadorien de sauver ses quatre militaires ne saurait justifier une intervention militaire unilatérale en Haïti, en violation de sa souveraineté nationale.

La lutte contre les gangs ne saurait devenir un prétexte pour contourner le droit international. Toute opération militaire doit s’inscrire dans un cadre juridique clairement établi, conformément au mandat de la Force de répression des gangs (FRG) et aux dispositions de la Charte des Nations unies.

La gravité de la situation sécuritaire en Haïti ne suspend ni le droit international ni la souveraineté du pays.

Also, per the second post in the thread, it looks like the PM of Haiti fled the country yesterday.

Something seems to be going down like we haven't seen for quite a while. Latin American expeditionary forces (with quiet USAF assist), mercenaries(?), and leaders fleeing.
