Today, @EUinTheGambia and the Govt of The Gambia 🇪🇺🤝🇬🇲 signed the Financing Agreement for the YEP Tourism and Creative Industries Project.
This initiative, to be implemented by @ITCnews, aims to boost competitiveness, inclusiveness, and sustainability in these vital sectors.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again.
Our country-based staff are the human face of ITC.
Your presence on the ground tells us if our cheese has moved, when and where… and where we need to go next.
Thanks for your hard work, innovation and sacrifice. We stand on your work!
This week, a delegation from our office, led by our Country Representative (a.i) @SallahBabou, is in Geneva, Switzerland, for the ITC@60 celebrations.
They’re also participating in a series of meetings with colleagues from Geneva and ITC country offices.
Spotted at our Innovation Fair:
Monitoring and evaluation expert Kebba Secka from @ITC_Gambia…
Repping his home country in his attire, while donning a Nigerian cap.
“Regional integration” at its finest! Let’s goooo, West Africa. ✨

We are living in a very inhumane and unjust world. How can this be justified in name of self defense. Israel should simply be forced to stop the massacre.
I am horrified by the reported attack in Gaza on an ambulance convoy outside Al Shifa hospital.
Now, for nearly one month, civilians in Gaza, including children & women, have been besieged, denied aid, killed & bombed out of their homes.
This must stop.
We are thrilled to join GBOS and partners to hold a validation workshop for the 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣2️⃣-2️⃣3️⃣ #Gambia Labour Force Survey.
The survey provides crucial information critical in evaluating and monitoring the progress of development goals, especially #SDGs 5️⃣ & 8️⃣.
Kebba Secka, @ITC_Gambia 🎙: “this survey is a critical step towards understanding and addressing the challenges faced by our labour force after the Covid-19 pandemic during which many people lost their jobs and many small businesses closed.”
@ITC_Gambia, we continue to deliver on our commitments to Government, BSOs and MSMEs in The Gambia. It was with honor that I lead ITC’s technical and financial support to Gambia’s Labour Force Survey 2023. A big congratulations to @GBoS and @MoTIEBanjul
Kebba Secka, @ITC_Gambia 🎙: “this survey is a critical step towards understanding and addressing the challenges faced by our labour force after the Covid-19 pandemic during which many people lost their jobs and many small businesses closed.”
Kebba Secka, ITC: “The training focused on enhancing the skills of young people & women in fruit, nut & cereal processing.
Were sure the participants have made the best use of the opportunity, but it must not stop here. We’re urging them to start putting skills into practice.”

Lessons learned;
1) politician must incorporate scientific methods in their strategy formulation 2) in God we trust the rest must bring evidence. 3) respect that marginalized group in society called academics. Well done team @_ceprass#proud
Again, according to the official results from IEC, our predictions for each region in the mayoral and chairmanship elections were 100% accurate.
Important lesson: Don't contest scientific findings only because they don't go in your favour.

Privileged to be a member Technical working group for LFS 2022. Also coordinating ITC’s support to GoTG to collect a comprehensive, reliable and quality labour market information.
Kebba Secka, @ITC_Gambia🎙 “The focus of the LFS this year is to:
Measure the extent of employment & underemployment in all regions of the country;
Measure the size of the informal sector;
Measure the gender dimension of employment & unemployment;
Measure level of decent jobs.
@JengSallah01 I had thought that unemployment is Gambia’s biggest economics problem until i read that 47.7% of our working age population are inactive. They are neither employed nor unemployed (IHS 2015/2016).
The excessive demand for liberty, aka freedom, at the expense of everything else including morality is a plague in my country. What i see on social media is beyond my wise grandfather’s imagination.
