@TheMinimalists Because it's come up a few times on the 'cast: You don't *need* to go into debt to become a doc (ie brain surgeon): Options-merit scholarship (rare), military, MD PhD, agree to work underserved/rural/Dakotas #debtfreeMD
Was pondering what it means to be an emerg dr... This is what I came up with today, in what I think is order of imp. Remembering that it's not my core function to be able to dx every patient is reassuring to me...esp when I'm looking at rashes#TipsForNewDocs
Why did we decide to report pediatric med dosing in the total mg/kg per day and then divide by frequency? Just tell us the mg/kg and how often I can give it....#EmergencyMedicine
@VenkBellamkonda@efunkEM Exactly. One of my pet peeves is when people throw the baby out with the bathwater- ie d-dimer isn't 100 percent sensitive for dissection therefore it is useless for dissection. There still may be a use, it just depends on your level of susp. & Be judicious
@efunkEM@VenkBellamkonda Actually I take it back. Technically they change the post test probability and adjusted by their inherent LRs-but I got what you were going for.
@emily_fri I'm so with you. That and the space after paragraphs that they made the default starting with 2010(?) Drive me mad. Why??????? Does anybody like either of those things? Maybe Microsoft has to pay the Romans (or the new York times?) A royalty: enter calibcrap.
Phenylketonuria- smells "wolf-like"...a) don't wolves just smell like dogs? B) who got close enough to a wolf to describe their child as smelling "wolf-like".... The (black?) pearls you only get from text books #FOAMed
@efunkEM I've been thinking about your textbook comment. I think it would be hard to get a complete overview w/o them. Like the obscure things you only read about but never see-ie hiccups from a hair on the eardrum or FPIES-so that's my rationale for using em
@VillaviMD I'm a little perplexed when being "conservative" started being anti-free trade.... I guess there are priorities #1 xenophobia.....#100000000000000 pretending you are pro free market?
Discovered while looking through medical records (found body fat testing records) that I gained 20 pounds in residency!!! I have since lost those. The amazing thing is I wasn't aware of either development... I thought it was max 10. Lean mass only up 3lbs/5y
@stevendtate I dunno. I always appreciated the irony on mandatory 8 am lectures about sleep hygeine and burnout after I got out of work at 2 am... that's building "resilience"
@choo_ek She better have a solid career in science given the mass of her cranium likely is equal to the rest of her body. Maybe she stays thin bc of all that metabolic activity or from carrying that thing on that pencil neck.
