Thinking about the time Ted Turner fired the manager of the Atlanta Braves and appointed himself as the replacement to try to figure out why the team was so bad and break a 16-game losing streak.
He managed for one game in 1977 before the National League told him he couldn’t do that.
"They must have put that rule in yesterday,” he told a reporter. “If I'm smart enough to save $11 million to buy the team, I ought to be smart enough to manage it."
The San Diego Padres crowd chanting “Holy Sheets” moments before Gavin Sheets connects for a majestic walk off 3-run home run.
How can you not be romantic about baseball ❤️
@XenonZaleo And he would remember halfway through that he was supposed to take Aunt May to lunch. Also, in both cases, your moving truck is getting attacked by animal themed supervillains.
@AaronMeyers Bound to pay off any day now. And hey you checked out the prices of those Spawn 1s? Can’t believe thats a $40 book considering there are roughly a trillion of them out there.
My fandom began with a 30 pack of marvel comics from a box store. Among them, a Peter David/Dale Keown Hulk 372. A Chris Claremont/Bill Jaaska X-men 263 & this from Gerry Conway and Sal Buscema. Later, I would pick up most of Sal’s magical spider run with JM DeMatties
RIP Sal.
