@IJustNeedToM8 Is it me or was this all totally missed by the Met Office. Warranted a red warning but they didn't even seem to put even a yellow warning out?
@MesocastUK Hell yeah it looks like that one has tapped into some good sheer as well which has seemed to be better than modelled. Impressive sat image casting a really sizable shadow - this guy's a pretty big one!
@OF_Schroedinger You're both wrong. These flippant remarks are very unhelpful. It's a significant hot spell that has been record breaking. It's May so it's not just summer we are still technically in Spring so this is very unusual we've broken records that stood since 1940! Call it what it is!
@TheSnowDreamer Would such early high temperature in theory make it easier for significant temperature anomalies later with plenty of residual surface heat to be used later in summer if and when a bigger heatwave arrived?
@SkiesOfTheUK I saw that 😂🤯
Doesn't look like we've got any triggers though from what I could see. Lack of moisture and lapse rates not in favour for example from what I understand. Also pressure is high and seems pretty stable at that. (Though I could be wrong!)
@KP24 The average max temperature for England in May is 18c we are expecting 30c+ in the coming days. This is a heatwave. We are already more than 10c hotter than we should be. It is a heatwave. Stick to your area of expertise on a cricket pitch.
Typical leftwing paranoia. They did it with the Cons and now it seems they shall pursue the same nonsense with Reform. Which also suggests the party is now the key rightwing party. Ironic because Labour is no longer the leading party of the Left and probably hasn't been for years https://t.co/0WrHihmTTr
It’s good news that the Strait of Hormuz has now reopened.
This must be a long lasting and workable solution, without tolls or restrictions on routes.
Today we announced our joint plan with France and other international partners to protect freedom of navigation.
We need to see a return to peace and stability, and a permanent ceasefire.
