@SportsSturm If they had drafted a comparable player this year with their fourth round pick, everyone would say it was a good decision.
Recency bias is a hell of a drug
@WerderEdNFL Giving a guy No offensive line, No second receiver option, no running game, some of the shortest times to pressure, And smallest Windows of separation in the NFL, and then saying, "Well Now he has increased expectations." is unreasonable.
@zach_barnett In the 15 years preceding ESPN buying the SEC, there were 13 different national champions and 5 of them were SEC schools. Since 2008, there have only been 7 different champions, and only 4(!) of the 14 championships won by non-SEC schools.
@HawkeyeOnAir The library was purchased by a developer who has proposed building a mixed use high rise on that spot. The plan now is to locate a library in the current City Hall building once City Hall relocates to the Pier One building at the beginning of next year.
Facts about the Packers playoff game you should know;
- GB only rushed 4 the majority of the game, blitzing on only 12% of Dak’s dropbacks, yet still created consistent pressure (17 pressures 4 sacks).
- With GB only blitzing on 9/70 dropbacks, they were able to sit back in coverage with 7-8 DB, effectively causing Dak to throw into tight windows virtually the entire game.
- With 3/4 of the Cowboys WR ranking 74, 100 and 103 out of 109 graded NFL WR in generating separation for 2023, throwing into tight windows all game was never going to end in a clean outing no matter who the QB was.
- Pollard averaged 3.7 YPC on 15 attempts, signaling the OL was horrendous in both run and pass blocking all game.
- Cowboys Pass Defense allowed a near perfect passer rating of 157.2, with an average yards per catch of 17.0 and 1 single PBU.
- Cowboys pass rush accounted for 0 sacks and only 1 player created more than 1 pressure (Parsons with 3).
- Cowboys run D allowed Aaron Jones to rush for 5.6 YPC and 3 TDs, and accounted for 5 missed tackles, 4 coming from a LB/DB. They also only managed 1 TFL.
But hey, let’s ignore ALL that and just blame the QB for everything. Right?
@iamsam2407@OutlawCowboyNFL What a ridiculous narrative. Mahomes can be one of the greatest, and also have an elite defense. Both can be true.
Making up imaginary super powers to blame another QB for a loss is lame. It's unfair and ignorant to take away from great defenses like that.
Could you sort Super bowl winners or even championship game winners by where their top receiving option ranked in terms of target shear during the regular season?
@CowboysStats someone in one of my football forums posted a stat that only a handful of the last 20 Super bowl winning teams have had a 100 reception wide receiver.
The cut off seems arbitrary and there appears to be an average of five teams a year with a 100 catch WR.
But the point appears to be that teams that are too reliant on a singular offensive option are susceptible to playoff failure.
It makes sense. So it got me wondering how you would test this.
