HALF: Renaissance 17, Muskegon 12. The Lady Reds made a great surge in the second quarter to get right back in this after trailing by double digits. Mariah Sain leads Muskegon with 5 points, including a banked-in 3 to pull within 15-12.

END 3: Muskegon 44, Eisenhower 28. The Lady Reds extend their lead with more of the same that they did in the second quarter. They are eight minutes from the program’s first-ever finals appearance. Mariah Sain 15, Cece Bonner 12, Dy���Nasti Bell 10, Antanique Sargent 7.
HALF: Muskegon 29, Eisenhower 21. Ike led 18-14 with 5:45 left in half, but Muskegon answered in a big way with 15-1 run over next 5 minutes, sparked by Cece Bonner and Dy’Nasti Bell. Bonner and Mariah Sain 9 each, Bell 8. Ike’s Janielle Turner 10. FTs: Muskegon 12-21, Ike 6-8.
END 1: Utica Eisenhower 14, Muskegon 13 in D-1 girls basketball state semi at Breslin. Muskegon struggled from field early as Eisenhower built a lead, but the Lady Reds have battled back largely through their work at the free-throw line (8-14). Mariah Sain 8 points.
FINAL: Muskegon 54, Grand Haven 28 in D1 girls state quarter at Hudsonville. Miss Basketball runner-up Mariah Sain finished with season-high 34 points, 22 in the first half. Muskegon (24-2) faces Utica Eisenhower (24-2) in semis at noon Friday at Breslin. Grand Haven closes 23-4.
HALF: Muskegon 27, Grand Haven 9. Much like last game, when Miss Basketball runner-up Mariah Sain scored 21 first-half points, she’s erupted for 22 in first half tonight. Dy’Nasti Bell has other 5 for Lady Reds. Kendall Gillis paces GH with 4. Muskegon led 19-0 out of the gate.
END 1: Muskegon 13, Grand Haven 0 in a Division 1 girls basketball quarterfinal at Hudsonville High School. Miss Basketball runner-up Mariah Sain 8 points, Dy’Nasti Bell 5. Last time these teams played, Jan. 28 at GH, GH led 15-4 after one quarter in a 47-46 Bucs win.
FINAL: Rockford 54, East Lansing 50 in D1 boys basketball state finals at the Breslin. It’s the Rams’ first state title since 2003. EL won it all last year. Mr. Basketball KJ Torbert of EL (27-2) led scorers with 28 points. Josh Bascom paced balanced Rockford (25-3) with 14.

Muskegon girls basketball coach Bernard Loudermill confirmed that his team’s Division 1 state quarterfinal against Grand Haven will be held at 7 PM Tuesday at Hudsonville. It’s a rematch for Muskegon (23-2) and Grand Haven (23-3) from a Jan. 28 game won by the host Bucs, 47-46.
FINAL: Muskegon 48, Midland 30 in a D1 girls regional basketball final at Alma. Lady Reds capture program’s first regional title since 2018–19 season. Mariah Sain game-high 25 points. Muskegon (23-2) plays Grand Haven (23-3) in Tuesday’s state quarterfinals. The site is TBA.
END 3: Muskegon 39, Midland 28. Lady Reds senior spark plug PG Cece Bonner went down with some sort of leg injury late in the quarter, but she’s back to the bench.
HALF: Muskegon 28, Midland 20. Mariah Sain continues to show why she’s a Miss Basketball finalist, swishing a 3 in the closing seconds of the first half to give her 21 points. Midland certainly is a scrappy team, but Sain is on another level right now.
