The Department of Student & Community Engagement is committed to supporting our students, their families, and community stakeholders within the @olatheschools.
📖 Pleasant Ridge Elementary School recently brought the whole school community together for One School, One Book, where students, families, and staff all read The Mouse and the Motorcycle! To celebrate, they welcomed Erik Erazo, Jean Cantero, and leaders from the Olathe Lowrider Bike Club to highlighting the unique connection between their custom bikes and motorcycles!
🌟 Students in the club shared what they love most, from working on lowrider bikes, skateboards, and RC cars to the friendships they've built. One student said, "It's a loving community where we all support one another."
🚲 The Olathe Chapter of the Leadership Lowrider Bike Club, founded in 2017, provides mentorship, academic support, and a sense of belonging to at-risk high school students. With a 100% graduation rate, the club has donated 400 bikes to the community and mentored over 1,500 elementary students!
🐭 Pleasant Ridge went all out for The Mouse and the Motorcycle—with themed artwork, book-inspired questions in the hallways, and even a dress-like-a-mouse day to wrap it all up! One student shared their favorite part about reading is "you never know what is going to happen next!" #OPSMakeTodayCount

👏 The 2nd Annual Celebration of Hispanic Excellence brought together students, staff, and community members to honor remarkable achievements within Olathe Public Schools!
🌟 The night shined a spotlight on Hispanic students excelling academically, recognizing excellence from elementary through high school. In addition to the student honors, awards were also given to dedicated staff members and community leaders who have made significant contributions.
💰 Adding to the excitement, the Hispanic Development Fund made a surprise announcement, awarding two $10,000 grants. The Latina Leadership Club at Olathe North, led by Dr. Marta Silva, received one grant, while Leadership 360, led by Erik Erazo, was awarded the second. These generous grants will help support continued leadership and development opportunities for Hispanic students.
❤️ As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, this celebration was a reminder of the rich cultural contributions and the ongoing excellence of our Hispanic community!
