@cdfzim joins the nation in grief and solidarity as we mourn the lives lost in the tragic capsizing of the Mbuya Nehanda Ferry on Lake Kariba. With 93 confirmed dead, including 21 minors, this stands as the darkest days in our country’s history.

🚨🚨CDF Women's Desk condemns presidential assent to CAB3🚨🚨
Zimbabwean women have always stood at the forefront of the nation's struggle for freedom and justice.
They are also the first to experience consequences of weakened democratic institutions and poor governance.

This is how a Netflix doc on this CAB3 s***show would start…
Telling the tale of how we were bullied into changing the constitution and the horrific years that followed.
I just thought I’d start practising 😂🫣
EFF statement on the extension of Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa's term of office
—The EFF believes that the people of Zimbabwe cannot be held hostage indefinitely by a governing party. True revolutionaries understand that political power belongs to the people and that leadership is exercised on their behalf, not over them. Any government that fears returning to the people for a fresh democratic mandate is one that is certain it has lost the will of the people and should face the consequences or commit to better leadership.
🔸Today is a dark, dark day for our nation. A black cloud hangs over us. Our democracy has been in a coma for years but today, it breathes its last. Mourn we must. Tragedy, thy name is Zimbabwe.
We need new leaders.🇿🇼
The Constitution Defenders Forum is honoured to be represented at the 5th Nalafem Summit in Kenya by our Secretary General @NcubeNikiwe, Deputy Secretary General Brilliant Dube, and Diaspora Secretary for International Relations @kimberl85034999.
Constitutionalism and women’s leadership are mutually reinforcing. A democratic constitutional order is strongest when women participate fully and equally in shaping public life and governance.
We remain committed to defending constitutional governance, promoting inclusive leadership, and supporting initiatives that expand women’s meaningful participation in political and public decision-making. We commend @_Nalafem for convening this important continental platform and look forward to translating these conversations into sustained action in defence of democracy, constitutionalism, and equal representation across Africa.

Postcard from Accra, Ghana
CDF is proud to have been represented at the 6th African Youth SDGs Summit convened in Accra, Ghana from 23 to 25 June 2026.
CDF used the platform to emphasize the role of the youth in enforcing SDG 16 which focuses on Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. Young people are not too young to hold power to account. They are key stakeholders in defending constitutionalism & building strong institutions.
CDF was represented at the Summit by Information Director, Tonderai Mapfumo.
As Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo once said: "This country will not die, it is the youth that will save it."

🔴"Ko murikutyei? Ko referendum munoityirei?".
These are authentic voices from young people who are genuinely active in constitutional matters.
Does Zimbabwe really need a change to the constitution to extend term limit years, or should we focus on fixing the country first?

WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH CAB3 AND WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS
A thread addressing 4 key questions 🧵🔥
1. At what stage is #CAB3 in the law-making process and what are the next steps in the legal process before it can become law?
🚨 ALERT | CDF UNDER SIEGE 🚨
Yesterday on Saturday 27 June 2026, CDF Mashonaland West Federation members, Albert Chitete and Sebastian Tendaupenyu were arrested in Hurungwe. Their crime: peacefully defending the Constitution.
They were initially detained at Magunje ZRP and have since been transferred to Karoi ZRP where they are being held.
This recent incident is indicative of what is now clearly an established pattern of political repression aimed at CDF and its members. Earlier in the week, suspected State security agents visited the residence of CDF Secretary for Mobilization, Gilbert Bgwende, and gained access to the property despite no one being at home.
This follows the arrest and detention of CDF Harare Federation Program Director, Paul Gorekore; raids on CDF offices and threats/intimidation of several CDF leaders.
We are, however, unrelenting in our position.
We continue to demand the withdrawal of CAB3 in its entirety. If this demand cannot or will not be met, we demand that CAB3 be put to a national referendum BEFORE obtaining Presidential assent.

As #CAB3 sails through Senate, Human rights activist and CDF Diaspora Spokesperson @MakomboreroH calls for the immediate withdrawal of the Bill, failing which, for it to go through two national referenda before going for Presidential assent.
The people's direct consent to #CAB3 is non-negotiable.

Senate debates #CAB3 today.
At a time when approximately 49% of Zimbabweans live in extreme poverty surviving on less than $3 a day.
At a time when over 2.5 million young Zimbabweans are unemployed: 41% actively seek formal jobs but don't get them. Poverty alleviation, youth employment & currency stabilization should be policy priorities, not term extension. #withdrawCAB3 #2030YeiMiswai #2030YaniImani
