imagine being an illegal migrant in france
you kidnap a few crypto bros, poo on the street, and stab a few women. life is good. freedom.
but that much crime is tiring so you're watching your health. you opt into a zyn instead of a cig. and bam, that's 5 years in jail bucko.
The IPO system is broken. You don’t go public to raise growth capital anymore. You do it to dump equity on retail.
NVIDIA went public at ~$600mn in 1999. Microsoft at 780mn. Oracle at ~270mn. Intel at 58mn!
Today you won’t IPO even at $60 billion.
At a $600 million valuation if you hit the jackpot and become a $60 billion company in public markets that’s a 100x return.
Investing $10k as retail makes you a millionaire. This is wealth creation.
At $60 billion there’s very little chance you get to $600 billion let alone 100x from there. You will certainly lose money as retail.
Mathematically if you only allow $100 billion IPOs you’re basically capping upside at maybe 10-20x. There’s no more 100x or 1000x potential. And even 10x is extremely unlikely.
Airbnb, Uber DoorDash are maybe 10x outcomes at best for retail investors. These are supposed be success stories of last decade.
Apple Microsoft Tesla Google were all 100x opportunities for retail.
So you’ve basically cut the average middle class investor out of the upside while private markets and insiders keep most of it for themselves.
Marc Andreessen just revealed the Elon Musk philosophy that completely broke his brain: "The best product in the world shouldn't even need a logo."
We all know Elon is relentless about quality. As Marc puts it: "Do you want the best car in the world or not, right? Like that's Elon's mentality... And it's working very well."
But at a recent event, Elon took this mindset to a completely different level. He dropped a perspective so jarring that Marc initially thought it was a joke.
Elon’s thesis? "You shouldn't even have to have your name on the product. It's just obvious. Everybody knows."
The logic is brutal but simple. If you build the undeniable, undisputed best thing in the world, everybody uses it. And because everybody uses it, you don't need to slap your branding all over it to prove it's yours.
Think about that. We spend endless hours agonizing over marketing, tweaking brand colors, and putting our logos on every square inch of what we build. But the ultimate flex isn't a flashy logo. The ultimate flex is building something so undeniably brilliant that its mere existence is the brand.
let me make sure i’m understanding this correctly
the supreme court is refunding all tariff money back to corporations.
the same corporations that didn’t pay a single cent of those tariffs to begin with.
they passed every dollar directly to you through higher prices on everything you buy
you went to the store and paid more for groceries. you paid more for clothes. for car parts. for literally everything.
that money came out of YOUR pocket not theirs
and now the refund goes to THEM?
the corporations who used the tariffs as an excuse to raise prices even higher than the tariff itself and pocket the difference
the american people funded the tariffs.
the corporations profited off the tariffs.
and now the corporations get a refund on money they never spent in the first place
and nobody in washington thinks the people who actually paid should get the money back.
not a single person has even suggested it
guess we are never getting our DOGE checks either
this country does not work for you.
it works for them. it’s a joke
and they’re not even pretending anymore
Exactly one year ago today, Austin Metcalf was murdered in broad daylight.
The man responsible is now sitting at home on house arrest - enjoying freedom and time with his family.
He admitted to the act, saying: “I’m not alleged. I did it.”
He spent just 12 days in jail.
His bond was reduced.
Over half a million dollars was raised.
He was allowed to graduate.
And he is allegedly now attending college.
And somehow, this is what justice looks like?
This is a complete dishonor to the real victim - Austin Metcalf.
As Charlie Kirk said:
“Imagine believing that murderers deserve condolences, not their victims. The divide in America is between anyone with a grip on reality, and the clinically insane.” Those who support the killer are exactly that: clinically insane.
Austin deserved better. And we are not going to let his name be forgotten.
We will be watching.
We will be speaking.
And we will demand justice at trial.
Today, we remember Austin Metcalf.
We pray for his grieving family.
Do not give attention to the killer.
Do not amplify his name.
Say Austin’s name.
A life taken too soon - by a culture that believes accountability will never come.
We’re going to change that.
FOR AUSTIN.
RIP AUSTIN METCALF

@2601forestave@AVS_BEACON@RyanKoenigsberg Wrong. Try working market hours west coast time.
Still a breeze EST with late games and less overlap with normal work/life.
3-4pm / 4-5pm early starts also lame. Early football kicks awful.
SNF at 5 or 6pm BLOWS
Watching Democrats refuse to stand for Iryna Zarutska’s parents, who were seated 15 feet away from me…
May have been the single most radicalizing moment of my life.
I could not believe it.
I still can’t.
I cannot wrap my head around it.
It's happening. Expect housing prices to crash up to 60-80%, just like in Japan during the 1990s.
Not only are available houses unaffordable, there are too few people to inherit the boomers' houses.
The selling pressure is going to be cataclysmic.
