🚨🚨 NEWS ABOUT THE ONE PIECE ANIME REMAKE FROM THE CEO OF WIT STUDIO!
George Wada:
“The reason we decided to produce a remake of the One Piece anime comes from a reflection by the author, Eiichiro Oda. He pointed out that the work has become very long and rich in detail, and since it began a long time ago, the new generation—used to modern productions—does not necessarily feel the same enthusiasm toward the older animation. He felt a certain regret about this and wanted younger audiences to be able to discover and follow the story. This motivated me to recreate this legendary tale using modern techniques, adapted to today’s audience.
The goal is to use modern animation technologies to bring the work back to life and make it accessible to a new generation of fans around the world. Our studio is not just remaking panels—this remake will be dense and impactful, without unnecessary stretching. It will combine visual enjoyment, strong storytelling, and flawless pacing.
During its original broadcast, the series aired on Sunday mornings at 8 a.m., which is considered a children’s time slot. At Wit Studio, we are proud to produce remarkable works such as Attack on Titan, Spy x Family, and Vinland Saga. These are very distinctive creations. We want to approach One Piece with the same strength and level of quality, while fully respecting Toei Animation and their remarkable work.
The greatest challenge in creating a work like One Piece lies in the vastness of its fanbase and in surpassing their expectations. Over the years, fans have built their own vision of the story, and we want to create something that goes beyond that imagination. 🔥
The most important thing is to understand what the original author, Eiichiro Oda, wants, and to find the best way to present what he wishes to show or express. By collaborating with him, we will achieve the final result. This work is very dear to Oda, and he knows it better than anyone—his vision will guide us.
With Netflix, we now realize that our works are followed worldwide. We are no longer just competing within the Japanese market—we are competing with global giants like Hollywood and Disney.”
Enies Lobby Arc: Review 🏴☠️🔥
10/10 easily
By far the most emotional and entertaining arc of the series, a rescue mission for a crew member both physically and mentally!
I cried 3 different times. This will be a long one...
- This arc showcased just how far the Straw Hats are willing to go for any of their crew, even if those members don't think they deserve it. Signaling war against the world government to save your friend is top tier 🥲
- The concept of the island was really cool. A judicial government island in a waterfall with MASSIVE metal gates that’s basically a prisoner’s death sentence
- Robin’s character development in this was absolutely incredible. The “I want to live” scene is probably the most emotional I’ve ever gotten watching anything. The music, the cuts between the crew with Saul’s speech, and Robin finally breaking and admitting she wants to go with them. It had very similar themes to Nami's saving in Arlong but enhanced to a whole new level. Seriously incredible character writing. This was cry #1
- Her backstory was so sad. F*** the world government and F*** Sakazuki. We got some interesting world lore here too. Saul’s speech was great, and I’m glad she found her people. Deri shi shi shi 😭😭
- The scene of everyone standing on the rooftop is one of my favorites in the whole show so far, just such a badass shot of everyone + Sogeking shooting the flag 🔥
- Luffy going Second Gear was EPIC, the drastic change to his speed and power kinda out of nowhere was so fun to watch. And it only got more hype the second time against Lucci + Gear 3rd! How many gears are there??
- All the CP9 fights were great, my favorite was Luffys ofc, but Zoro's and Franky/Chopper were great. Kaku being a giraffe man 🤣 The Nami/Kalifa fight was freaky as hell but shoutout Oda fr
- Franky is a great and goofy man and had some good lines in this arc. He's going to be a SUUUPER addition
- Robin snapping Spandam in half, I cheered IRL. Hate that guy with an absolute passion
- Luffy vs Lucci was the BEST fight we've gotten in the show by far. The use of Gear 2, refusing to go down, jet gatlin, Usopp's speech to Luffy... PEAK. My absolute favorite scene of the whole arc is after this fight when Luffy yells to Robin, man the music here was beautiful and the slow cut to Robin turning around mid-battle with tears in her eyes 😭 Then we just get a big ole' Luffy smile... this was cry #2.
I don't want this to be a 10 page long review, there were so many other amazing side-characters and moments... but last thing I have to mention is Merry's death ⛵️
Man...
Everybody gangster 'till the boat start apologizing.
Cried my eyes out. Honestly couldn't believe this iconic ship in the series is not with them anymore. The montage of all her moments, everyone crying in the snow watching, and Merry thanking them for everything... damn you and your impeccable writing Oda. This was Cry #3
There are so many more things I could mention that I loved but only limited typing space, so I will definitely put them all in my next video review, which I should have out next week (hopefully)!
Incredible arc.
Best character storytelling I've ever seen EVER.
10/10 -- This arc is the pinnacle of One Piece for me rn
Will write a Post-Enies Lobby review here soon!
