Macclesfield FC can reluctantly confirm that Lewis Fensome will not be returning to the https://t.co/6yiGkV4M94 Stadium for the 2026/27 Enterprise National League North season.

Lewis initially agreed terms to remain a Macclesfield FC player for the upcoming campaign, continuing his journey with the Silkmen since our inaugural 2021/22 season in the North West Counties Premier Division, however owing to work commitments, Fensome has since declared that he'll be unable to commit to the Club next season.

The centre-half by trade has been a loyal servant for Macclesfield, recently breaking the Club's appearance record, featuring 188 times in blue since embarking on his mission with the Silkmen, joining from Lancaster City and going on to win three promotions in four seasons.

Alongside this, Lewis has balanced running an extremely successful health & fitness business, Highfield Hybrid, based in Preston, Lewis' home town, which has become increasingly challenging for the 26 year-old, given that his predominant passion and source of income has required more of his time than anticipated due to exponential growth in the last twelve months.

The Lancashire lad has recently been acknowledged for his admirable approach to Club life with the special recognition award, but always been referred to as a model pro, reliable, willing and positive throughout his time with Macclesfield, earning him the role of Vice Captain at the beginning of the 2025/26 season, which Lewis proudly accepted and has donned the armband on many an occasion since his appointment, received excellently by the Silkmen faithful.

Taking in to account therefore how much Fensome has given in terms of his effort, commitment, loyalty, passion and professionalism, it is with reluctance that the Club accepts Lewis' admission and resignation, with both parties mutually agreeing to cut ties ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Everyone at Macclesfield FC would like to thank Lewis for each and every contribution that he has made with the Club, and leaves with our sincere thanks, appreciation and well wishes for the future in football and beyond.
