Severin | AI × Shopify

Shopify merchant building our own Shopify apps with Claude. No code, no subscriptions. Sharing every build, including the ones that broke.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

I'm not a developer. We build our own Shopify apps anyway.
I describe what we need in plain English, Claude adapts a tested code base to our store, and Julian handles the IT.
My entire coding background is knowing where the "undo" button is.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@s_chiriac Clean. Did the AI ask you questions first, or just confidently start cooking too?

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@kritikakodes This is how it starts. One hackathon, then you open your app billing page and get ideas.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@SuiBuilds Can confirm. Most of building our own Shopify apps was testing until they behaved exactly like before.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@Officially_Dev_ SaaS is fine. The apps that were just a settings page with a billing Button are the ones dying.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@jakewilsonecom Same goes for the backend. Count the apps that do exactly one thing. That number is usually embarrassing.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@konig0000 C, easy. Claude is the reason we replaced over 20 Shopify apps.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@YashHustle_22 Way less glamorous here. We were at about $786 a month in Shopify apps before we started building our own.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@javarevisited Fair for payments and tax. The app charging me monthly for one Button didn't need any of those 50.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@DevaiahShrithan Skip the 0 users step and build for your own store. Not a developer, just a Shopify bill that got a lot shorter.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@piangfa @bot Same here. I'm not a developer and we still built our own Shopify apps.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

11 apps built for our own store, support replies drafted by our helpdesk, and I hit approve.
Week one of posting here done. Next week: what actually broke while building these. There's a list.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@Cristina_AC_X Or build for your own store first. Ours stops about $786 a month in app fees from leaving.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@JamesonCamp Add customer emails to the list. Our helpdesk drafts the first reply to every one, I press send and take the credit.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@LDT0545 Not me, I'm not a developer. Julian handles our IT, I just describe things until Claude runs out of questions.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@Atenov_D We did it the boring way. Over 20 Shopify apps, about $786 a month, rebuilt ourselves with Claude.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@EXM7777 Fair. Same reason we test everything on a dev store first. Your live checkout is not a learning project.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

Before you install your next Shopify app, ask one thing: could I describe this in a paragraph?
If yes, you might be about to sign up for a monthly subscription to a paragraph.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

@anshrathodfr Keep the hours of testing. That was most of our Shopify builds too, testing until it behaved exactly like the app it replaced.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

That's all 7. Save the cheat sheet.

And send this to the friend who still writes every product description by hand.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

7 store chores Claude already does for you.

You're probably still doing most of them by hand. Almost all of it works on the free plan. Here's what we'd hand off first.

[Severin | AI × Shopify @SchweigerOM]

7. Translations.

Claude translates your product copy into any language and keeps your tone. So your store doesn't suddenly read like a manual.
